Hello everybody:

I'm a fan of Europa universalis and we played a lot of time at the english version, waiting for the Spanish one.
We've done an interesting discover. It's that if the host is a 56K modem the game goes very well, it goes better than if a 256K ADSL. With a game speed of 1min=4months it goes like if we were playing on our own.

In every game if the host is the slowest conection it's better than if a speed conection host the game. The reason it's quite simple because the host with a slowet conection (56K) make the other conections to go much slower, but you don't notice anything, because the 56K makes you to have a determinate speed. If the host is an ADSL (256K) makes the slower conections (56K) to go so fast and because of that you crash to desktop regulary and people breaks the conection.

This is our discover and I think it's so useful (sorry because of my english I'm Spanish).

What's describing NGC is surprisingly true: up to five players playing at 1minute: 2months (and even at 1:4) with a 56 KB modem host (and 56 Kb from a regular ISP -to not say a poorly reliable one: spanish Eresmas ISP-)

This seems to end the "asynchronization" (crossed my fingers when spelling that) problems; these dudes are even able to chat like only we spanish players are able to chat while playing EU2 (i.e: constant, blatant chatting not strictly related to game issues :D), and they're getting no CTDs

Btw, all of them are playing NA 1.05 (or 1.04, not sure about this)

Maybe any mod out there would move this thread to the support forum if you think it would be better located out there

This is good news. When I leave the UW, I go home to 56k. That it works is very positive! I don't want to have to give up MP during the summer.
