i can connect on to valkeryie net,then i go a channel with people in it,i try to join a game but it says my patch isn't the same as theres,mine is 1.2 but theres is sum other 1.2,and when i try talk to get a website where i can get the patch,it dosnt show up on the message board thing,and when i try to exit,the game freezes,any help would be apprecuated

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
The wrong version message is because you have modded files. A clean 1.2 install is YPHQ and the manpower edit which most MP players use is UPHQ. If yuor version doesnt match that I suggest trying a reinstall of the game with a clean patch. 
The other issue is quite common, I crash when exiting vnet as well, doesn't effect your ability to join games.

They probably have the manpower bug fixed and you dont. I'm not sure of the exact procedure, but search the forum for the manpower bug and you will find the fix.
It is really easy to do and once fixed, you will be able to join the other players.

go to the Hearts of Iron 2 folder, probably in program files/Paradox Interactive
then go to db folder, open misc.text, and scroll down to
# Reinforcement Manpower Cost Factor 0.8
change 0.8 into 0.4
save the file and ur done
if u now open the game u will see UPHQ -> manpower fix

it says i got yphq and they got UPHQ,how does changing some files change my YPHQ to UPHQ???
