I've been looking at HOI. I love strategy games like that, and this one looks like a good one.

But, I have a question...

I've got a 56K modem with a standard dial-up connection. Sometimes I connect at 40 kbps, but it seems recently, it's been more like 19.2 kbps.

Can I play multiplayer HOI on this type of speed, or is the MP game only worthwhile if you have ISDN?

I'm really only interested in playing HOI if I can do multiplayer--my opponent (a friend of mine) has the same type of connection I do.

I've read that Europa Universalis multiplayer was unplayable at this slow speed, and I'm thinking that HOI is going to be the same.

Anyone out there having a satifying MP HOI game with a standard dial up connection?

Thanks,

Communique

Playing with slow connections might actually be an advantage since during wartime the slowest selectable speed is still way too fast, and if both players have slow modems then maybe the game will play out at an acceptable pace.

i tested my 56k a few times. i had no problem playing with someone from europe 1-1 on i think it was normal speed. i have been in a few bigger games that went fair except for too many pauses(people with better conns were crashing muhahahahahaha) and the host having the speed a little too low hehe
i havent crashed yet online either but havent played as much onlnie as others so your 56k might not be as good as mine.
