Music and sound problem

When I first began playing EU I wasn't hearing the music playing during the game. Someone suggested that I download Winamp and the game music files. I've done this, but I couldn't get anyone to tell me how to get winamp to coordinate with the game. In the past few days I've noticed that if I turn my speaker volume up I can here the music. The problem with that is the sound effects become too loud and the volume adjustment in the menu deosn't seem to be working. This poses a problem, eihter I turn the speaker volume up and get blasted every time an event occurs in the game, or I turn it down and don't get any music.

Any suggestions?

The music isn't really worth keeping on anyways. I doubt there is a person out there who has played more than a couple of hours and has left the music on. There are about 5 tracks of 2 minutes each and they get really old really quickly. In other words, don't worry about the music.
