Music stops?

Occasionally, the ingame music will simply stop. That is, one track finishes, and the next one does not start. I have noticed this mainly in MP games, but I don't play much SP so it could occur there too for all I know. I have edited the playlist; could this be the cause? It does not appear to be any particular track which is the problem.

Restore the original playlist for a few games and see if it makes a difference.
Or shut the music off all together and play the track is a different player.

If it still happens with the original playlist , I have some more things to try.
