I don't know what cause this, but go to EU2 settings and make sure music is set to "on".

If it is and if the music doesn't play, put it to "off" and load the MP3 files in Win Amp.

I have been playing my copy of EU2 since(this happened with EU1 also) September and just recently the music has stopped working. What causes this and how can I fix it?

I have this problem too - music used to play, now it doesn't. I also have it switched on in both the startup config program (where you set the resoltion) and have the music volume set to 99 in the game. I have the 1.05 patch

Same question I asked in the identical thread:
What have you installed or changed from when it was working?
Have you gone into the option screen when your save game was actually loaded and adjusted the sound?

I got the Waar of the Worlds save file and it hasn't worked since. I'll try reinstalling.:)

It doesn't work when the game turns on either so I doubt that that has anything to do with it.

Its on. What is winamp?

www.winamp.com

a software to play MP3 files, the format the EU2 music is in. You can also record your own CDs on MP3 format and play them while you enjoy EU2 :)

I know what that is, just couldn't place the name. They did play fine if I just found them and played them outside of the game. I am still interested as to what caused the problem, though.

It seems to be a frequent problem, but I have no idea at all :( I personally never had the problem.

I do suspect it has something to do with the fact that you can control sound in 3 different places.
1. Setup screen
2. Main start screen option menu.
3. In game option menu.
One or more of them is overwriting info from the others.

You loaded someone elses save which had it's own sound parameteres saved with it. I suspect it overode yours.

it could be, but it is still very weird...
