Does your CD have any marks(fingerprints) smudges or scratches on the metalic looking side of it?

If it has smudges try some glass cleaner(like windex) on it and a clean soft cloth.

If it has noticable scratches it may be FUBAR.
 
Borrow his disk and install the game, then see if it will run with your disk in the drive.
 
Try contacting the publisher and see if they will exchange CDs for you. You can find the links in the support options thread at the top of the forum.
