my dynasty tree stopped showing properly

before it was working fine and I could see who was who's child and such in the tree.
not no one is connected anymore. I reloaded the game a couple of times but other than that I have no idea of how to fix it.
I tried looking it up but couldn't easily find a solution.

Not sure about this one. No mods in use? Does it happen in a new test game you start too, or just this one saved game?

so far only in this save game.
I have no mods loaded here either.

Well, I have no idea really. Something's obviously happened to that save but I can't explain what.

It's not that it was started under an older game patch ?

I think not, I got the game this weekend.
I only know how to play from a lot of youtube video's I used to watch and nowhere did the tree ever look like this.
and it didn't either in the first game I tried and not in the beginning of this one or in the test one I set up after that.
maybe it'll happen again if I get further into the test one but I don't know yet
