I have two things which have to be bugs...

First, I'm the king of France, crusading against the Emirate of Edessa, trying to regain the Holy Land for Christendom. I take Acre, and then I get the message "Mercenaries defect" The Acre regiment joins my side. However, the Acre regiment is led by the Emir of Edessa. So now I have the ruler whom I'm at war with leading his regiment into battle against his army for my cause. (I played with it a bit, and found if I conquer a territory with him at the lead, it goes to his realm, but not at war with me.)

Another thing, I'm not sure how it happened, but the Hungarians at some point tried to come over, but they lost their boat. So there's a few Hungarian regiments, with a land icon, sitting in the Mediterreanean just off Acre and obvoiusly not going anywhere. I have a savegame I can send you if you like.

First of all, please report only one bug in each bug report.

The mercenary part seems like a bug to me, as mercs should usually be with only anonymous leaders. If defection affects whole armies (meaning, more than one regiment merged in one army), then it might be that defection counts armies with mercenaries as a part of them as viable targets.

When you save and reload, all armies currently sailing will graphically lose their ship, but afaik they should work completely normally still. Are you certain that they are stuck? Is Hungary still at war with someone?

Stupid question: how can defection only target anonymous leaders? I really can't see a fool-proof way to do that with the event triggers available, but please proove me wrong. Since if that's the case then it will never be fixed, if not by removing the event altogether.

I guess it depends on whether or not mercenaries_defect command targets a regiment or an army. If it's the former, I find it odd that it would target a regiment led by enemy monarch as monarchs are always leading demesne troops. If it's the latter, then I have no idea on how it could be fixed.

Sure it's not right if it targets the enemy monarch, but the thing is I have no idea how it could be made not to target the enemy monarch but only those not holding titles. Gotta ask Cat Lord.

Hmm, I don't disagree it's a bug, but it would be in the command effect, not in the way the event is scripted...

I had a similar situation a while back in a game as England (vanilla NA 1.04a).

Every time I loaded, there was a Duchy of normandie army floating in the Med, no ships, not moving anywhere for months. I finally reloaded as the Duke, still couldn't order it anywhere, and ultimately disbanded it before returning to my game.
