My issue with the sacking of Bagdad

The game has this loading screen, which is obviously depicting the conquest of Baghdad by the Mongols.

What has bothered me since the first time that I saw this loading screen is the guy with the spear on the left.

Why is he holding it like that? That is no way to hold a spear when riders are coming at you! You need to put the whole strength of your body behind the spear and keep the tip as far away from you as possible. Not like this, no wonder the Mongols were able to take the city, with these kind of defenders. I am guessing his prowess is -10.

Say what you want about the guy's technique (I don't have the knowledge to judge) but he's the only one facing down this huge mob of angry horsies and that at least gets a hat tip from me

Honestly given that he seems to be fighting out of formation against a bunch of incredibly fearsome warriors with weapons that all significantly outrange his own I think the proper technique in this situation is running as far as one possibly can
