I am currently playing a colony with the new Below & Beyond content and just wanted to talk about what I like and what I think could be improved:

First of all, asteroid mining is mostly ok and pretty fun, but it is kind of annoying that your lander can't take off if you have 14 instead of 15 exotic minerals, forcing you to leave 4 behind.

What I think could use some more work though is the martian underground. After the inital eploring and lighting of the caves I feel like there is not really much to do. There needs to be more of an incentive like maybe having one or two infinite resource deposits or powerfull buffs or maybe something else.
Also I believe that the surface and the underground should be more interconnected. A simple change would be to allow the player to set up automatic transfers on the elevators without having to micromanage every delivery. There should also be more things in the underground that affect the overall colony. The only thing down there that has an impact on the surface is the bottomless pit lab because it produces science.
The artifact interface is only useful inside the caves, with no further story or any effect on the surface colony. The same really goes for the pit lab.
The last change I would make to the underground is allowing colonists to sit inside the elevator while waiting for shuttles to arrive.
When I tried bringing people to my bottomless pit lab they ran out of the elevator to the dome, which was quite a bit away from both elevators and about half of the colonists ended up dying from suffocation on the way there.
On that note, it would also be cool if we had another form of transportation like trains or bus type rovers.

I know I brought up a lot of negatives here but tha is just because I think that Below & Beyond could reach its full potential with just a few changes.

I agree with everything you say here. I feel the game in general suffers from a lack of endgame. Most of my games end in me wondering what it was I was doing here, and me simply closing the game.

I'd love to see trains implemented.

Also by the time I am really exploring the underground, I pretty much have every tech revealed, so the only benefit being more research is kind of useless.

Really I think a campaign mode, with mega-structures and between-map transport system for goods and colonists, where I terraform the planet across multiple maps is the solution.

My desires are:
1. Trains
2. Campaign Mode (or other meaningful and satisfying endgame solution)
3. Surviving the Solar System

Below and Beyond is a great step - especially once they iron out the kinks. I'm very much enjoying the asteroid mining.
