Ok, since no one had a comment on my "tenancies" post, what about how people are named. In spain at the beginning of the game people were named according to their father:

Ex. Rodrigo Gonzalez ----> Pedro Rodriguez -----> Nuno Perez ------> Juan Nunez, etc.

Obviously just made up names but still, will this be done or will it be the same surname.

You could still have them named as above with the House name attached at the end: Rodrigo Gonzalez de Lara. Of course i'm not sure about when your mother's last name began being kept or if it ever wasn't, which of course is a whole other issue. Anyone care to help me out?

I'm not quite sure. Does this game have historical monarchs like EU2? Is the first monarchs heir the same as it was historically? For example, if you play as Lorraine or whatnot that in 1066 was controlled by Jaron the great ( historically ) will the next ruler be Jaron II as it was historically, or are heirs and line of succession something more open and controllable by the player?

This issue was a matter of discussion between Borealis and Greven as I recall. B. flies back on Monday, should be on forum on Tuesday. I would suspect a uniform "standard" name convention though.

...meaning that it will be a compromise, i.e. if some nation had a very specific pattern in a specific time period, this will have to wait until CK II is in production. In CK we will most probably use a uniform rule for all period and all nations.

(Again, Borealis knows better! :) )

That sounds like a perfectly reasonable compromise.

Aye, this is also what happened in Portugal at the time. Tough the addition of the «de + House name» only arrived in the very late mideaval period, though (XIVth century).

I should add, though, that Kings only had one name - Pedro, Fernando, João... the second (fahters') name was deemed unnecessary for Princes of The Blood - everyone knew who their father was, after all.
