I've played as nat china once before and was able to kick out japan and get the sun is setting event. It was a very fun and enjoyable game. Anyways it was a long time ago and I forgot alot of how I managed it. I have a couple questions.

Is it best to use 2 mil and 1 infantry or 2 infantry and 1 mil?

Is there an event that makes china go to war with the country south of china (forgot the name) I always see it getting annexed by china early.

Lastly whats the best way to defeat Japan I remember from my last game I only managed it by taking a gamble and letting the japanese advance deep into China and cutting them off from their supply.

It's 2 militia and 1 infantry to defend your coastal provinces

When AI China annexes the lower nations it is an AI only event. You can turn it off by changing the days when it fires in (I think) the AI_NATCHINA.txt file in the db/events folder.

The beat Japan just spam INF, MIL with some MTN in there. If you want to invade the Japanese, tech up your Destroyer or Light Cruiser tech and spam CAS and TACs. It takes much too long to tech to carriers and by then the US might've already invaded them.

So sould I DoW the lower nations before or after the war with japan?

If you DoW Guaxi Clique (sp?) be VERY careful. When they go to war with you and they offer peace accept it. Because they will join the alliance with Japan if you are still at war when Japan DoW and it gives Japan a staging ground to move troops into your territories. Just keep the chinese warlords around and just use their troops with military control

They ended up DoW on me so that solved that. Japan declared war and are starting there advance. Should I let that green nation above me be over run so I can get a direct supply route when I attack?

You should be able to get a supply route through anyway, but knowing Hoi2 it can be a bit risky :p. Tbh, I would be surprised if you could hold Shanxi since it's nearly all plains which Japan will cruise through easily. Just defend rivers (the Yangzhe I think) and mountains and you should be set. Also remember to use reserves and support defence if Japan is looking like they might make a breakthrough.

If you manage to hold Shanxi and eventually push back against the Japs till you force peace, you can later kick them out of the alliance and invade them that way, as goes for all the other Chinese minors.
