Hey everyone,

I did something stupid. I added Biomimetic Assembly to my bots, the way it was written it sounded like the food upkeep only applies to replicators. But instead all my pops now have it.

As I am doing mining drones, my menial drones are really really bad. I dont use them for minerals or energy either.

But I can not get enough food just from hydroponics. So is there any complex drone that could produce food or do I have to either use a big batch of weakened agridrones or get rid of the trait? Or constantly buy food I guess.

There aren't any as far as I'm aware, but as you said, you could endure with agri drones or buy lots of food. Alternatively, you could make a trade deal with another empire or you could get a prospectorium vassal who specialise in basic resources

The trait is a hefty sacrifice for a massive amount of extra assembly. Personally, I wouldn't use it anywhere but a Machine World with Assembly Zones, and would keep those pops quarantined.

Aside from that... I think you just have to use agri-drones.

Have two vassals but they are so far behind tech, dunno if I can ever specialize them. Taxing them for their basic resources in exchange for giving them science could help of course

Can you quarantine them though? You cannot control which pop is build anymore

Periodically robo-mod every Biomimetic pop that gets resettled to work offworld jobs. Just don't include the mass production planet in the list, and it will keep cranking out pops without the food upkeep pops being a substantial portion of the rest of your empire.

In theory you could set it to integrate (not assimilate), and as long as you outproduce the 25-per-colony-per-month rate, the local population of Biomimetic drones won't decrease. But you'd end up with non-Biomimetic drones working the replicator jobs (I think), which would mean you'd have to really babysit the world to keep your production from falling (as opposed to just periodically purging your food upkeep).
