Need some advice - Surrounded by English province

I'm in a situation that cannot seem to resolve

Being count of Lancaster, I went to attack a province of Scotland and, still not knowing exaclty how, ended up with the title of duchy of Lothian, title that I, since then, gave back to the king of Scotland. Nevertheless, I'm still Duchy of Lothian (HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE???) and I'm still a vassal of the king of Scotland. But I'm still count of Lancaster and controling 3 Demesnes

So I'm in the middle of England, surrounded by english provinces.

I can't do anything. If I'm trying to grab any provinces around me, I trigger a war between Scotland and England and, evidently am the first being attacked. And I cannot try and take a Scotland province because they are too far away and my relation with the King of Scotland are not good.

How did this happen and how to solve it?

I'd have to say that in your stead, I would simply pick a side and, since you can't make war w/o losing some of your provinces give the opposing side the province(s) within the other king's land. Then you make war. If you somehow inherited the title, however, then congratulations for a most unusual occurance of gameplay. I'd give you a cookie if I could for sheer uniqueness.

Thank you for you quick reply. But that is my problem. I don't hold any Scotland Provinces. I only have the title WHICH I HAVE SURRENDER to the king of Scotland. I really don't understand How I can be Duchy of Lothian, without the title itself (even writing it doesn't make sense). Could it be that, because I switched allegance from the king of England to the King of Scotland, when I grabed the Lothian Title, that now, I cannot go back being a simple count under the king of England...is it a bug???

depends, I have never had such a thing happen to me in game, but I run 1.05 of CK. It would also depend on where it tells you that you are the duke of lothian. Your claims on other demense(s?) show up in several places while your titles are shown on your ruler's character screen. If you see something like "duke of lothian,count of lancaster", then it simply cannot be a WAD.

Are you sure you have surrendered the duke-title of Lothian and that it wasn't count-title of Lothian ?

Also when you got the duke-title of Lothian, did you save and reload the game. You must always save and reload when your primary title chances, else weird things can happen.

And since you say you lost the duke-title again, you also had to save and reload after that happened.

But besides, I believe your current position (if I understand you correctly) is that you are the duke of Lothian with 3 provinces in the Lancashire area and that you are a vassal of the king of Scotland.

Usually England is stronger then Scotland and sooner or later the king of England will declare war on Scotland. If that happens the king of Scotland will ask for your troops, you must refuse that. He will ask it several times and you should refuse everytime. At some point your loyalty will be so low that you can swear alliegance to another king.

When that is the case, swear alliegance to the king of England then declare war on Scotland. In that war you should be able to enforce so of the claims you have inside the kingdom of Scotland.
