Summary
Neighboring Khagan was able to usurp my elevated confederation kingdom title, with all of my vassals and tributaries, by using the "Enforce dominance" CB on said kingdom title, against my tributary.Description
Playing nomadic in the earliest start year. Make a name for myself, creating a confederation, later elevating that to a kingdom, controlling the entire NE corner of the Steppe. Fast forward a generation, and my son, now Khan is blood brothers with the Kirghiz Khagan. Somehow, despite that brotherhood, Kirghiz declares war over my tributary, with the goal of expanding dominance over the kingdom it resides in. My kingdom. (The tributary is a duchy tier, and one of my direct vassals holds one of the counties in that duchy, De-Jure drifted to being part of the kingdom)As this is only my tributary, this doesn't call me into war, nor can I join it to help my tributary. In fact, the Khagan calls upon our sworn brotherhood to have me fight with HIM, against my own tributary, with whom I have a hostage. (I do spare the hostage, but still strains things)
Eventually, the war is won, and the Khagan Usurps MY created kingdom title, along with the entirety of it's de-jure lands and vassals, which due to the drift effect of being an elevated confederation is ALL of them. Leaving me with nothing but the dutchy title and my personal domain lands.
And there was literally nothing I could do about it, as us being blood brothers meant I can't take any hostile actions against him. And yet he was able to take direct hostile actions against my primary title without issue.
Full disclaimer, this was on a lightly modded game. However, none of the mods should be the cause, as this was all done using vanilla interactions and war goals.
However, the attached save file is without any mods (Using the "No mods" launcher preset) and loaded into an autosave ~3-4 months before the war ends. I tried to load the autosave from the previous year without mods, but it's crashes on map load.
Mods included:
-Balance of Power UI (Simple UI mod that shows a breakdown of vassal power)
-Border Disputes (Adds new CBs that allow for minor border conflicts. However, the included CB wasn't used at any point)
-Congenital Beauty (portrait graphic mod)
-Invite Debutantes and Invite Nobles (Both add a decision to invite talented, unmarried women or men to the court.)
-More Interactive Vassals (If anything, the most likely to interact. But only deals with vassals, which weren't involved in the conflict mentioned, as that was between an empire tier, and a duchy tributary.)
-More Lifestyles (Adds Prowess and Leadership lifestyles. I believe Khagan was using one of those trees, but as the CB used was a vanilla one, I don't see them being the cause)
-More Navigable rivers (Widens many rivers, allowing for them to be sailed with the river sailing perks)
-Warden Vassal Contract (Adds a new, military themed vassal contract. Only for feudal government, so not relevant here.)
Steps to reproduce
-867 start date, start as count level nomadic ruler in the NE corner of the Steppe.-Create confederation, elevate to kingdom.
-Become blood brothers with neighboring Khagan of Kirghiz Khanate.
-Vassalize a count, who's de-jure duchy is held by an independent nomad.
-Make said independent nomad duke a tributary. (notably WITHOUT war grantee)
-Vassal county causes the duchy to become De-Jure of the confederacy kingdom due to the drift effect of elevation.
-Take first son of tributary as hostage (probably not related, but eh)
-Brother Khagan declares war on the tributary, CB: Dominance Expansion against the kingdom title it resides in
-Tributary contract doesn't have war protections, so Tributary can't call me in to help. (I don't offer, as I assume it'll just be against the lands held by the tributary)
-Brother Khagan leverages the blood brotherhood to call me into the war as his ally
-Help Khagan beat tributary in the war
-Khagan enforces war goal, thus usurping the kingdom title out from under you, taking all vassals, tributaries, and lands with it
-Player is made the High Chief (Duke) of a newly created title, consisting of their personally held domain, and kicked from the kingdom, losing all landed courtiers and vassals in the process.
