woah, long research times!

Hello,

I tried out CORE 0.4 tonight, and found that some of the techs for SU take 7600 days to research. Is that correct? Seems a bit long to be of any value.

If this is an error, I would be happy to help debug -- just let me know if you need any assistance.

Its not an error.
 
We need to do something..

The Czechoslovaks shouldn't be allowed to pick if they join the alliance. Germans should be able to reject this offer. It screwed up my whole game..
 
Ok, some 0.4 observations.

I played Etiophia and when I demanded claims on Italian estern Africa the event fired but the claims never came. Well I didn't get them, if you get what I mean. The event is probably broken (no province names where mentioned in the 'a' event option. It just said "will be added to your demands/claims" or something). Haven't looked at the event though.

SU needs a move-capital event (Kuybyshev or Novosibirsk or something). Now it moves to Leningrad or Baku I think (when Moscow falls), making the capital easy pray for Germany once again.

I also think SU will do much better if more 'move industry' events are added. As it is now most of it's industry base gets lost pretty fast with Barbarrossa. A lot of the IC:s in Moscow and Leningrad should be moved (I dont think any of them moves now) and bits and pieces from the rest of European Russia to. As I said, this will probably make a big differnce for SU...

More SU. If the wake leader command doesn't work, the purge event should be modified so Rokkosovsky, Moskalenko and Gorbatov doesn't die.

...and more. In the hands off games I ran, SU had enormous problems with the winter war. Twice they fought the Finns for more than a year (pre-barabarossa) whitout breaking the fortified front. Might need some tweaking.

Japan gets stuck in China allright, but perhaps to much. They never get close to Burma. Tweaking..?

Germany doesn't seem to develop higher level tanks. Not sure about this one though, it's just from observing the sprites. Techmod problem?

Can't think of anything more right know. Overall I love it! Great work!!! :)

I think this is so that the human player can't research it (considered to powerfull). It is given to SU through an AI-only event.

I played as Ethiopia 3 days ago in 0.3 and the event fired fine.
 
New C.O.R.E.: bigger (additional 5,6 megs...), better (that's what we're here for), faster (to my surprise the game screen rolls faster), more (of bugs).

A new game with Poland started and it seems that there is no polish government at all. Is it a "polish armaments minister lost" mega-bug, or did I simply screw sth up with my .csv?

Oh, and is there any official thread related to improving the tech-mod (adding new pics, ideas and so on)?

It's intended - those techs are so called "uninventable ones". You can gain them only from the start of the game or by events. And some of them got negative effect, so inventing those is rather not suggested (check effects of "Partisan attacks" for example).

SU problem is mostly supplies/steel problem - when they get "Gret Patriotic War" they are able to build units really fast, but their ablity to support them is limited without resources (yes, they run out of them). As you probably noticed, they are able to slow Germans by the first year, but later they fall - it happens all the time when they resource cache is finished. It will be solved by Lend Lease events, but thanks to faulty convoy command it doesn't work as intended too (although UK or US player is able to send those resources to USSR by current events). Event with capital moved to Kujbyshev is good idea for 0.5, thanks!

Yes, it's AI problem - right now SOV pre-war AI got too many garrisoning priorities and is not able to send enough units to Finland. Will be corrected (hopefully in hotfix).

It's intended - their AI simply invents one thing after another and is able to get improved medium tanks around 1943. If I gave them research path similar to that USA use, they would be even more unstoppable then they are now. :(

It's not down to province priorities but rather the min/max garrison and of course weather. The smallest change is 10% for the garrison proportion and the counterbalance is the need to maintain border guards against GER and JAP in order to avoid exploit of attacking SOV during Winter War for easy win.

Also remember that historically the USSR had huge problems breaking into Finland. Arguably the problem doesn't lie in USSR AI ability to conquer Finland but rather the design of the event 2627. Let's discuss this further in the appropriate thread.

No problem in my 0.3 game + techmode, Russia took 2 provinces and in March settled for the historical option, so all fine?
