New computer: Paradox Launcher v2 fails install: cannot run game

Hello,

Thank you for providing this support forum, I'm at an impasse trouble shooting.

Upon installing and pressing Play via steam the Paradox Launcher v2 stops during the set up process at

Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) - 14.40.33810.0

After some time I receive the following after being prompted to install a second time

0x80070652 - Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install.

Nothing else is currently being installed.

I have received the same when trying CK3 and a slightly different message but same issue when testing this on Victoria 2.

Any suggestions on either progressing the install of the launcher or playing without using the launcher is appreciated.

I have also attempted to install the paradox launcher v2 from the website with similar results.




In the log this section repeats several times (I have the full log saved if needed)

Try doing a manual install of VC++ first

Latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable downloads

And run the x86 and x64 installers there.

Note that you can start the game from victoria3.exe directly from file explorer, which bypasses Steam and our launcher.

I attempted x86 and x64 from support.microsoft and both paused mid-install and I received a failed message. I will attempt to run the system file checker tool this evening or over the next two days in some open time and then reattempt.
