This is the first time I try to experiment with religious symbols, and I decided to try to make new confucian and buddhist symbols. I woud be happy to get some opinions on them.

EGUFSM with replaced confucian and buddhist symbols:

I am planing to make new hindu and pagan symbols to. :)

Those are looking nice, though I have to ask you what they resemble. My quick guess is that the new buddhist symbol is a Manji (or?). What the confucian symbol is I have no clue.

Anyway I converted the confucian symbol to ordinary colours. (most because i like those colours more, I have never liked the EGUFSM colours.)
Since I don't know if the buddhist symbol is a manji or not I didn't want to post a conversion of that without a mods point of view.

That is looking very nice. I personaly thinks the EGUFSM colors coud be a bit more varried than they are.

The confucian symbol is chinese for Confucianism. (as far as I know) I took inspiration from CIV 4.

And yes, the new buddhist symbol is a Manji. :)

Well thank you.

Aha, I never would have guessed that.

Well this is where things get complicated. As the rules says, one can not post any picture of a sw..t.ka. Then what am I talking about? The Manji is derived from the sw..t.ka and can thus in some pictures be very much like a such. Obviously yours are not but i suggest that you ask a mod or admin what their opinon are.

That's supposed to be a manji? What's the point of doing a weird looking manji nobody is going to recognise? I'm Buddhist and I didn't know what that was until you wrote it was one. Also if you where to do a correct manji... well you'd get in trouble with it. I don't see anything wrong with the Bhavacakra (Wheel of Life) or maybe a Lotus, or just an icon of Buddha. As for the Confuscian symbol, I'd check with somebody who actually knows the language first, that looks a bit too... stylised in my (uniformed) opinion and may just be gibberish in Chinese. Xiechengnuo is a native Cantonese speaker, I'm sure he'd be happy to help with that :)

According to the rules, only ***s who are forbidden in Germany are forbidden here. Not the Manji. ;)

Indeed but people seem to get exceptionally 'pissy' when manji is posted. I believe there was similiar incident a few month ago, you should ask a mod before posting a manji because IIRC, their answer was pretty much 'no manji allowed', but my memory is pretty bad so I could be wrong! :eek:o :D

I asked a mod if I were allowed to post a picture of my sun cross, which in one way looked like a such. That proposition was taken down.

You should always ask a mod or admin if it is about religious symbols taht might be taken for a Sw.

Would a Tomoe suit as a buddhist symbol? Or Buddhas eyes? I'll do some of those and see which one looks best.

A Tomoe is too Japanese and would not fit Buddhism because it's (generally) a Shinto symbol. And what's a Buddhas eyes?

Buddhas eyes are, according to a site, a buddhist symbol. So is buddhas feet.
Unfortunatly I can't link this site here, if anyone want's a link they can ICQ me at 303-119-418.

I know that Buddha's footprint are a Buddhist symbol but I dont' remeber ever hearing about Buddha's Eye's. Buddhist's footprint though isn't that widely recognised, that's like replacing a Chirstian cross with the fish thing

Umm... so far as I know, that's not the word for confucianism. It looks a lot like 吉, the Chinese word for lucky.

That is exactly what i would have guessed for, because on this site where I looked it said that two of those are double happiness, which means fortune. Or prehaps those two I saw was a bit bigger. Am I right?
