I am running 1.07 with the Tripartite Graphics Pack and I have just done a clean install on a laptop running Win 7 Professional and when I try to save a game I get an error message 'cannot access savegame.eug' or similar.

For some reason the program files as installed were all set to Read Only but I have set the whole AoD folder to Read/Write, but it still doesn't work.

Can anyone help please? It appears to be Windows getting upset not AoD.

It's a solution which has already been mentioned in the tech support subforum many times but don't worry, we're here to help each other out ;) .

Glad you solved the problem and good gaming with AoD!

I just bought a new computer and had to re-download (from Gamersgate) everything and I was having the same problem. I had Vista 64 on my old computer, and the new one has Win 7 Home edition. The AoD game would run fine until I tried to patch it, and then everything went to hell... as soon as I changed the install destination it worked just fine. Glad I came to the Paradox forums... :)

Yes cut and paste worked fine. In Windows 7 I noticed that shortcuts updated automaticly.

It would be nice to have this fixed in the next patch.

Cheers.

I assume the patch installer has to be started with Admin rights if the game is installed into the UAC-protected c:\program files - otherwise it lacks the permission to overwrite old files or some files in virtual store are used instead of the local ones. The latter is a major problem for Clausewitz engine based games like V2 and Hoi3 as their map cache often ended up in virtual store.

How do you go about changing the directory? I have never had to bother with this before so I have no idea how to do that. Also, why would changing the location of the game files make a file that previously did not exist suddenly appear? If it did not exist before it seems that just moving locations would not really do anything at all.
