Looks like they removed the missile hardpoint and added 2 support ones (one in each torso).

It also looks like they dropped a 'Name' search function and they changed a redo icon too.

Oh! Confirmed moved to the bottom with 'Revert'

I also don't see that paint icon up in the left there. Wasn't that confirmed to be the paint scheme selector thingy?

I think I remember hearing someone at HBS posting that it [the Icon] was removed.

Mechlab with the Atlas II with a lot of very interesting equipment and weapons installed.

Atlas in the Mechlab. Interesting stores there.

Mechbay with a selection of mechs to choose from. Atlas II is there for us to drool over.

I love the look of that Atlas!

So they dropped mech paint scheme customization now?

I think they just removed that button, I'm pretty sure color customization is still a thing. I'll see if I can find the actual quote, but trying to find a specific post is like a needle in a haystack lol.

This isn't the one I was looking for (that actually mentioned removing that icon), but I think it does the job. This is an excerpt from the February Q&A...

  • There are paint schemes as well. You can change the color of mech by choosing primary, secondary and tertiary color. Different Mechs come with different paint schemes that deal where which color is applied to the mech. So, you choose the overal colors for your unit and they then get applied to mechs by way of that mechs paint scheme. There isn't an interface with more detail than that, but they are working on it.

If I was to hazard a guess, I would say that was part of "...they are working on it".

I think they moved it to a company paint scheme which you can set elsewhere from the impression I have gotten.

That would also be where we may use the various skins we get.

That would make more sense as it's a company wide paint scheme from what I recall. one spot for all of them (including the Argo if memory serves).

Looks like either the previously reported hardpoint inflation was BS, or they changed their minds. Good...I thought the published inflation was too high.
(either that, or this video is old and the current inflation is as high as was published. We know that the video included bank loans that the devs said they cut)

If I remember correctly they were talking about the proposed inflation but stated Tyler was making a pass over it and it was not confirmed one way or another. So for me it meant it was a work in progress. Since we have not heard more on the subject I assume (yes bad idea) that they were still working it out and perhaps we will not get an announcement on it one way or another, but it would be a good question for the next Q & A if they have one on twitch.

I think this video is old and they have made quite a few changes since making the clips. So I think the hardpoint inflation may be the higher numbers we have seen instead.

Notice that "Gauss Ammo"? Gauss confirmed, then. According to the beta files, the Gauss does 75 damage and 10 instability for a mere 6 heat (with a max range of 660 and a min range of 60), weighing in at 15 tons (plus ammo) and costing a whopping 2.2 milion CBills for the weapon itself!

AS7-D-HT is a new one, there are sub-variants of the venerable AS7-D, namely the AS7-Dr (post-jihad refit, irrelevant) AS7-D-DC (Command-mech) and AS7-RS that was an attempt to retrofit AS-7D's to AS7-D-H (Atlas II) standards.

there is of course also the dark-age era AS7-D3 (Atlas III)

i have no idea what we're looking at, it looks like a AS7-D but it's equipped more like a bastardized version of the AS7-D-H.

i mean the naming scheme basically confirms it's at least related to the Atlas II, but the T signifies what ? a prototype iteration of the design intended to bridge the gap between the traditional Atlas and the Atlas II ?

it's got 3 slot heat-sinks, meaning it's doubles and ER Large Lasers meaning it's got los-tech aboard, but that AC-20 is so much old school Atlas it almost hurts, and it's got the customary 6-pack SRM launcher and 5x4 LRM 20 launcher on the left chest as well.

how does it fit all that, a XL engine ?!? i'm counting 46 tons in weapons and ammo alone, and it's got a full deck of armor, while only being a single ton over the limit. there's 5 DHS and 8 single sinks in there as well, a ton each, the VLAR 300 alone is another 19.5 tons if it's a regular, or 9.5 tons if it's not.

to recap

46 tons of weapons and ammo
13 tons of heat sinks
17.5 tons of armor if FF
19.5 tons of engine
5 tons Endo steel chassis

'aright, think i got it, it's got FF armor, Endo chassis and a regular engine, unlike the Atlas II that has a regular chassis, and FF armor with build in CASE.

The T stands for "Tyler", because I made it. ;) I envision it as not a prototype so much as a one-off production model for an SLDF guardsman who was also a highly placed noble. Kinda how the Pininfarina P4/5 is a Ferrari Enzo but so customized as to really deserve its own designation.

Since LBX-series cannons are a buttload less interesting without ammo switching, and ammo switching would be a tall order for launch, UI wise (since only the 10-X would exist in game, and only on the Atlas II), AND the PGI Atlas we have doesn't support the hardpoint locations the AS7-D-H has (E.G. I can't put an AC on the arm cuz there's no prefab to attach)... I made the HT. Which, in my own little headcannon, is the result of a member of the SLDF hybridizing a standard AS7's weaponry (like the AC20) and the more advanced chassis of an AS7-D-H.

Cuz he wanted the new tech, but the old punch.

Would you mind ending the theorycrafting one way or another:

Is it (and the lostTech goodies) in the game where we will be able to use them without modding or not?

It's also kind of interesting when you couple it with the salvage screenshot with the MG Ammo bin just being another component. Presuming stores just won't regularly have a stock of Gauss Ammo bins or other lostech it means to make use of it you'd have to not only salvage the rifle but it's associated ammo bin, and if the ammo is destroyed you may not be able to find a replacement easily, leaving the weapon unusable.
