We just got treated to some new screenshots in the Paradox Forum Newsletter.

The portraits look great, an incredible improvement on the ones shown in the previous dev diaries. The shields look nice as well.

Thanks, I'm glad you like them. :) (I'm doing the portraits) If you like those, I think you will like what's to come. :)

Where? Waht? Link?

It might be a nice idea to post them here, it seems many people are having trouble getting the newsletter

Well as they are on public image site for everybody to see I add them here.

EXCLUSIVE - New screens for Crusader Kings II
One neat thing about Crusader Kings II is that every dynasty has a unique coat of arms, completely separate from whatever titles a character might hold. This shield can be either random - composed of various parts and colours - or custom. The major dynasties in the game will have custom coats of arms, whereas lesser dynasties will use random ones. In the first screenshot, you can see a custom shield for the House of Bjälbo (a Swedish royal dynasty), and in the second screen, a randomly generated coat of arms for the "de Agen" family. Incidentally, the bishopric of Agen also has a random shield, seen to the left of the character portrait...

since Danevang the Facemaker is lurking round:
will the facial expressions relate to trait types? (vegeful, greedy, wise etc.) Or will they be handled genetically (you'll get your parent's temperament look). Or just random?

the background is what I'm loving
also the shadows are doing a great job, and the facial expressions are giving these portraits good character.
and this means I guess that kingdom CoAs will change according to which house is holding which title?

"Facemaker"...I like that..."complain and I'll mess up your face". Hehe, sounds like a mean title. :D Anyway, the facial features are related to genetics. :)

Nice sneak-peek. Anything with other religious symbol than Catholic? I'm curious about the Pagan ones (since Islam will probably get a Crescent and Orthodox a Patriarchal/Russian Cross). Will Norse have a Mjölnir/Valknut/Triquetra Knot etc? Suomenusko/Ukonusko the elk petroglyph or Ukko's Snake-Thunder? :D

I think he understood that the way the shape is formed is Genetic, but wondering if their expression (Smiling, angry etc.) change dynamically with Traits. So if someone is aggressive, arbitrary, cruel etc. then he'd be more Mean-looking.
