General game Settings
Have fun. Enjoy the Kaffeeklatsch.

Rules:
  1. Obey the GM. He is your King and Absolute Ruler.
  2. The GM reserves the right to edit out the effect of a bug, when he thinks this is necessary. See rule 1.
  3. There's a stab hit rule to prevent eternal wars:
    • If you have been at war for 5 years or more with another nation
    • and that nations sends you a stabhitting peaceoffer
    • and you are at stab -3
    • and the peace offer is based upon a warscore of -99 for you,
then you must accept the stab hit peace offer.
Note: it is recommended that you pause the game and inform your opponent that you are about to force him to a peace this way, then he can check the current WS.
  4. After each session I will edit out the vassals of each nation with centralization below level '8' and a maximum manpower pool of at least '50'. This way, high manpower nations will not profit too much from the manpower bug.
  5. This manpower bug rule will be ignored for Austria, Brandenburg, Palatinat and Bavaria. They are allowed to go decentralised and take vassals.
  6. Naval nations (nations with the land/naval slider below 5) aren't allowed to sign TA's with other human played naval nations. This to break the traditional trade blocks and promote trade wars.
  7. Every country who will occupy a significant amount of goldmines in the America's for a long time (50+ years), will get a triggered bankruptcy event. So not only Spain. And no one can avoid it by ceding away trigger provinces.
  8. Prussia will be created no matter what. If someone else (like Poland) will take the Prussia province, Prussia will still be created
  9. In the case that Brandenburg is near 1700 not the major power (besides Austria) in the region, but it's instead clear that either Bavaria or the Palatinat is the dominant power in the region, that minor will become Prussia int the place of Brandenburg. This gives all minor an incentive to fight for something.
  10. After the session ended close to the year 1580, the Netherlands will be released with some cookies.
  11. Poland will be allowed to stay in Latin tech group if they take the B option in the "The Act of Union-'Rzeczpospolita Polska'" event.
  12. Everyone who will be on time for the session will get a cookie for the next session. You can choose between 1% deflation, a scaled stategift or -3 badboy.
  13. If you miss the first session without warning, other players get the opportunity to move to your country from their country. This to prevent important countries from being AI and to reward the players who were willing to play the less important countries.
  14. If you get vassalized by a human, you need to cooperate with and protect your overlord. This stipulates:
    • That you will not attack his allies.
    • That you will not fund someone who is in war with him
    • That you will dow someone who dows your overlord.
However, you are *not* required to dow someone at the command of your overlord, send him cash at his command or generally help your overlord if *he* is the agressor.
The overlord has the same requirements to his vassal.
This hopefully makes it more worthwile to vassalise someone. The minimum time you need to stay a vassal is 10 years, but someone can of course demand a longer period in a peace deal.
  15. Using certain exploits is forbidden. See below for more details:
General rule: if you think something is an exploit, then it is likely that it is one. When in doubt ask the GM.

The following is forbidden. The list is probably not complete.

  • Attacking an enemy fleet with pirates, as well as comparatively very small fleets, only made to inhibit loading/landing.
  • Releasing one or more vassals during wartime, to hinder an enemy.
  • Force-burning of manufactories, i.e. repeated move and halt orders to an army in a province with a manufactory.
  • Using lag to your advantage. This includes (but is not limited to): Sending lag colonists, building lag fortresses, sending lag missionaries, using lag diplomats. (The exception is using lag diplomats to send cash).
  • Declaring a 'fake' war on a country, with the aim to:
    • Increase the stability of the nation you declare war on.
    • Change the religion of a protestant or Counter-Reformed-Catholic nation back to Catholicism before the Edict of Tolerance.
  • Exploiting Simultanity: Using the game engine to break a deal, that would occur simultaneously in the real word. This includes (but is not limited to) the 'sale' of something in game.
  • Converting from Catholiscism to either Counter-reformed-Catholicism or Protestantism and then switching back to Catholiscism before the Edict of Tolerance.
  • Cancelling being the vassal of another player within 10 years, except when an event allows you to do so.
  • Avoiding the Spanish bankruptcy events, by giving/selling/ceding in a fake war/revolting away the trigger provinces to another country.
  • Trading maps with the AI.
  • Sending loans to the AI.
  • Signing a peace deal with the AI, that bankrupts it in the same day.
  • Reading the hitory log of the host save

The following is allowed:

  • Breaking a truce, even when at negative stab.
  • Not leaving a human alliance, despite the alliance leader asking you to do so.
  • Landing armies in the port of a country you are in war with, because you still have Military Access.
  • Sacking capitals for maps
  • Stealing sieges

If were going with country preferences already, id like:
1. Sweden
2. Brandenburg
3. France
4. Spain
EDIT: 5. Russia

I can play Austria too if needed, somehow always end up there one way or another...

I might be interested. What nations will be played?

Depends on how many players will ultimately sign up, but these would be possible:

  1. England
  2. France
  3. Spain
  4. Portugal
  5. Austria
  6. The Netherlands
  7. Brandenburg
  8. Russia
  9. The Ottoman Empire
  10. Sweden
  11. Poland
  12. Denmark
  13. Palatina/Bavaria
  14. Persia

It means Dawn of God, Gossip and silencer, or possibly silence :)

Surely not "dawn" of the Gods. It is the "end" of the Gods. Ragnarrök in Scandinavian terminology. Thus "twilight" is more appropriate. And so the last opera in Wagner's Ring cycle, the one named "Götterdämmerung", is called "The twilight of the Gods" or something like that in English.

Hmm im not too keen on this 'pick the nations you dont want thing' Im not trying to be difficult but there are more than 3 i certainly DONT want to play. If i dont get something ill just play a minor if thats ok.

3 i want least

portugal the bitch
spain the tiresom
brandenburg the 'i always loose fredrik in a random battle'

I don't think you are welcome in FALs thread Daniel ;)

Another few points

AOD needs modding. If we dont have more germany players something needs to be done to limit expansion in HRE or at least reduce MP. Id prefer the former.

OE suck in the scenario even more than normal 1492. I think they should be boosted which may also help getting a player (and keeping one)

stab hit rule i think should be -75 but with at least 5 WE

france should get COT from start

id prefer slightly better random leaders

naval slider locked? Id say yes.

rewards for being on time i think works. -1 deflation at least id say

Yes, does anyone know a campaign with a solid edited AoD 1492 scenario? I am planning to only include one extra German player by the way, under the assumption Germany gives enough income and manpower to satisfy multiple countries.

I propose to lower the manpower of Portugal in AoD to start with ;)

The current rule is developed through multiple campaigns and I prefer to keep it as it is now :)

Agreed

Up for vote

Fine with me.
