just bought the game and i have basicly no clue what to do.... okay some stuff ive read about or tried out but alot of basic stuff i cant figure out plz see if you can help me get started.

1. when i attack a country and win the fight...what then ? what should i do to gain something...i cant make it my land or anything, only having the option to send a diplomat to make peace ?!?! that wasent actually the idea of the attack...what should i do next when having a army in a enemy land.

2. how do i make money, im basicly broke until i restart

3. HOW DO I MAKE LOTS OF MONEY ! :)

1. To gain territory from conquest, you invade it, defeat the army there, then gain ownership of it through a peace treaty. In other words, send a diplomat when you're ready to make peace and ask for the provinces you hold. Be aware, though, that the other side may refuse. They also may offer peace on their own.

2. Money can be very tight in the beginning. You have to build trading posts or colonies, place merchants in CoTs and invest in your Infrastructure so you get more taxe revenue. It takes awhile.

Firstly, let me welcome you to the community.

Now that's out of the way, I'll try to answer your question.
If you completely conquer a county (that is, conquer every province a country owns) then you can annex them and basically they then become part of your country. To annex them you need to sue for peace and 'annex' is one of the options that you are given.

As for making money, I'm always broke so I guess I'm not best qualified to answer that. :)

What scenario and country are you playing?

1) The way you gain territory in war is by gaining control of provinces. To do this, you need to move an army into an enemy province and gain control of it by capturing the fortifications (if there aren't any fortifications, then you gain control of the province automatically). In peace negotiations, you can claim provinces under your control. By taking provinces and winning battles you get 'stars', up to a maximum of 7. In peace negotiations you can make demands up to the number of stars you have (a province takes 2 stars, 250 ducats is 1 star). The other nation can always refuse, of course, but they usually accept offers that use up less stars than you have (so if you have 5 stars and demand two provinces, they'll probably accept). In colonial warfare, you can also use armies to burn down enemy trade posts, which is always a good thing.

2+3) Trade is one of the primary means of gaining money. Improving your trade tech increases the amount of money that you gain from COTs. It's important to gain control of and gain monopolies over valuable COTs. Also, improving your infrastructure tech level increases your tax revenue. Once you've attained certain infrastructure levels, you can promote bailiffs, judges, and mayors in provinces, all of which have beneficial economic effects. Manufactories also provide income in addition to their effect on investment.
