im having trouble with wars, how can i check my enemies strength before i go into battle?

how can i stop attrition, my units in the desert are getting whiped out before they even fight. why does attrition happen even when i have a big army in my capital aden?

my oman army of 25 infantry vs aden army of 8 inf and cavaltry. in battle mode things look fairly even but i have the numbers, why do i get beat all the time?

in gc i play mamelukes and watched the ottomans come at me with 100 guys (100000troops) but then when i played the ottomans i could only get an army of about 60 at the same time and attrition dropped that to about 40 before i could hit the mamelukes, what am i doing wrong, we both used sidan general.

thanks for help

by the way is there any way for a minor muslim country to be a colonist power earlier in the game or at any time???

The information screen for each province gives the attrition level for that province (for your troops, not your enemies). This shows how many of your troops that province can support. If you have more troops than this, they will experience attrition at the end of each month.

Try using a mixed infantry/cavalry army. Also, they might have a good general.

Hover mouse over enemy unit.

Leaders, Tech lvl, terrain & army balancing ... have you even read my FAQ ??

It's all in there.

thanks much huszics , i know ive only had the game a couple days but im anxious to learn the tricks of the trade. so far i found one glich, it seems that when i change all of the country 3 letter ids so i can annex majors (on the edit gc thing) it wont let me save games. but if i just change the first 3 letter id you know the one that lets me play that country, and i leave all the other major countries in there, i can save with no problems.

orange, yeah it looks strange that i been on this post two months and now im just learning the game, games great.

thanks orange for your faq , great info helped lots.

huszics thank you also, ill read into that faq more.

i finally found the way to win wars, i change the level to very easy and crappy a1 hehe. :D

back to playing and experimenting

Look how WE are GREAT!

Everybodyu has the right to post ANY questions, providing they are not again the forum policy. NO ONE has to read the postings before making any question! But if we are going to show how great are... (hint, hint...)

@Handel: Of course, everyone has 'the right' to ask any questions. But that´s not the point. You have to understand that we do not want to answer the same questions again and again and again. We have a life beyond this board, You know? :) That´s why Oranje and Huszics have prepared their FAQ for You (as a labour of love). Pointing people to it hasn´t anything to do with assuming a 'Look how cool and great I am' stance. It´s just to spare us additional work.

So people please: If You have a question, check the FAQ first. Probably You´ll find the answer already there prepared for You. In case You don´t find Your question tackled in the FAQ, THEN post it here. If enough people will come up with this new question, it will surely make it into the next versions of the FAQ.

Regards, Hartmann

Yes, I read the both FAQs and they were very helpful to me. But still this is s forum for Q&A, not just a page with a sign - 'For all your questions go there and there and read this and this'
And besides - many peoples dont like reading large manuals or FAQS - it is easier just to post your Q and to wait a couple of minutes.

No prob Warspite, your not the problem. The problem seems to be HANDEL that doesn't understand that we don't get paid for answering peoples questions, were just ordinary gamers that try to help others out to the best of our ability.

Having FAQ and pointing people to them clears the boards of a lot of 'unneccesary' questions so the the ones already not yet satisfyingly covered in FAQ gets much more attention.

HANDEL, instead of raking down on others, whu don't YOU try to help others out. There certanly are areas not covered by the two excisting FAQ. Make one of your own... or just stay online 24h/7 and start answering questions.

Well, I'm starting to trying:) End I read both FAQs, but I like to read much.
But in both FAQs dont show why the game claims, that the reformed countries get more income from taxes, but they get less and even the catholics are better. Seems that is a simple mistake in the texts.
