There is no news yet about Archon Prophecy beyond what we've already shared in the Store Page or on the previous streams.

As covered on the Story Page:
Take command of the forces of light, in the Age of Wonders 4: Archon Prophecy Expansion. Join the celestial Archons as they strike back against Urrath’s corrupt forces. Consult the oracles and glimpse the hidden prophecies that shape the fates of the realms, and become the master of your own destiny. Contains a new culture, story content and prophecy events.

More details will be revealed together with the release date, but here is a sneak peek of what is to come:

• New Culture: Build an empire with a new nation
• One or more new Forms: Transform your people with striking new traits
• One or more new Story Realms: Embark on an epic journey through an uncharted realm
• New Narrative Events: Shape your story in unique and unexpected ways
• New Tomes: Unlock the knowledge that alters the course of your empire
As covered in our Giant Kings Streams:
  • Titan Units are back in some way, shape or form
  • The new Culture is not an Archon Culture.
No other information about Archon Prophecy or it's associated Free Update have been revealed so far.

It's NOT an Archon Culture? ... What the heck WILL it be then? I can't think of anything else that would be thematically appropriate. (Aside from an update to High Culture to add sub-factions, but that doesn't qualify as a NEW culture.)

It could be a cult culture fitting both allfather and urrath. Or some kind of astral sea travellers fitting for stuff like gloomwatch and urrath minions

Pretty sure it will be a faction with shadow in it. It's the only affinity that was not very explored.
As far as I can think of at the moment, the missing affinities are:
  • Order/Astral
  • Order/Shadow
  • Materium/Astral
  • Materium/Shadow
  • Chaos/Astral
  • Chaos/Shadow
  • Chaos/Chaos
So Chaos, Astral and Shadow are each missing 3 options.

Given the theme of the Archon Prophecy though (Destiny, Prophecy, Fate, Oracles) I feel a Culture with Astral as its core is the most likely.

Stating that it won't be an "Archon" culture is still vague and doesn't rule out a Greco-Roman themed culture. I feel like the new culture is going to have either Order or Materium to fit with the Season's color theme. And I've heard the theory that high is the new imagining of the Archon culture, but I feel like they'd have to add a subculture to more accurately represent them because otherwise they'd be identifcal to the High Elves. I agree that a High culture rework is likely. My wild guess for what the new culture is would have to be materium/shadow Egyptian to represent the Tigrans. Either way, I'm excited and also am wishing for a more Roman-style shield infantry.

High as the new imaging for Archons feels rather silly as if you check the older factions it's not just mostly a better fit for high elves, it's a better fit for wood elves too; stylistically they had little to no cavalry (only their scout in 1), the architecture is the same, and archons did not have priest units in 1 (meanwhile the primal culture used for Serena is warrens and dart throwers, something that used to be the province of goblins and halflings).

IDK, the flexibility is fine but if classic elves and halflings can't be represented well in that flexibility while what would represent them better is just ultimately use to basically retcon the originals I find myself a bit non plused

Dark is now the worst faction.
Dark has never been the worst faction.

This isn't Civilization, and minus the columns High arguably looks Greco-Romanish unless you're a nerd.

No offense to nerds, you just wouldn't apply it to a fantasy game.

High might not be perfect based on petty criteria, but it doesn't have to be.

It's also an irrelevant point. AOW 1 Archons were named High Men because they were literally High Men.

Archons don't have to be re-imagined from what they already are.

I once suggested the idea of a cultist culture for Eldritch Realms. Perhaps that could work for Archon Prophecy.

If the new culture is an order affinity Greco-Roman culture, I'm going to have to accuse the devs of being too literal at best and liars at worst regarding the statement of the new culture not being an Archon culture.

Jordi mentioned multiple times its not going to be a main order culture. Thats why my guess is a subculture is order

The dlc won't have a dwelling. 1) the description doesn't mention it. 2) I doubt we ever get a Culture and a dwelling in the same dlc.

The devs have added stuff that wasnt in the descritpions. Like I think Empires and Ashes got forms and originally hadnt that mentioned.

While 2) might be the case aswell, the second season had a lot of stuff in each dlc. I wouldnt be surprised if they go some more extra steps.
