When trying out the game for the first time, I thought it was quite strange that all the characters from the "Nilotic" cultural grouping (which includes not only the Egyptians but also the Kushites and Garamantians) were portrayed with light "Mediterranean" skin by default. I sought to rectify this by making a simple little mod that gave them darker skin and African hairstyles.

Nilotic Reskin

I'm quite sure Garamantians were Berbers, which by virtue of their Afro-Asiatic ancestry had Mediterranean/Arabid-Caucasoid features, except ones in more recent times who had Subsaharan admixtures by living close to Niger–Congo and Nilotic speakers.

Yea, the skins they use are accurate enough, the name is wrong though. The Nilotic people actually migrated north (probably under pressure from the Negroid population pushing east) after the end of this game. Both genetics and archaeology shows that the population of Kush was the same people as Arabs/Jews/Egyptians/Berbers.

Since Paradox has added a new "Meroitic" ethnicity and cultural group to encompass the Kushites, the time for me to update this mod is long overdue.

For V. 2, I made both the Egyptian and Meroitic characters darker-skinned than they are by default. However, Egyptians and Meroitics will not be the exact same skin color this time. Egyptians will vary from lighter to darker brown and Meroitics will all be dark brown. Here are two representatives of each culture to demonstrate this difference.
