I'll start with the caveat that it's been a long, long time since I used the CK2 converter for EU4. But as I recall, certain nations that got converted from CK2 to EU4 (like the Roman Empire, pre-Mare Nostrum) had unique NI's when they appeared in EU4. However, there were quite a few interesting nations that didn't get NI's (most notably for me, the Latin Empire). Have the numbers of NI's for CK2 nations been increased recently, or what nations would you like to see NI's for if they survive the crucible of the Middle Ages?

For me, I would like to see a unique set of NI's for not just the Latin Empire, but also for the Lombard Kingdom of Italy, distinct from the ones that are gained from the formable Italy in EU4, which seems more distinctly an artificial Italian construct than the venerable Germanic, Lombard realm that it would have been in 1444.

I'd love to see more converter NIs for interesting states but I can't make any promises on adding any (EU4 ideas for existing states should still take precedence, atleast for me).

As with national ideas in general however if you have suggestions about what we could see (preferably fully fleshed out with texts as just a list of modifiers isn't that useful too us) I'm happy to take them. :)

Thank you! For what it's worth, I had written these up for my Latin Empire EU4 campaign, and after a few tweaks, I'll happily share them.

THE LATIN EMPIRE

Traditions: +10% Cavalry combat ability, +1 Papal Influence

1. Centers of Ancient Knowledge: -5% Technology Cost
"The Latin Empire is situated at the heart of the knowledge of antiquity. Opening up centuries-old Byzantine libraries to the public will allow the study of the past to aid our study of the future."

2. Lessons of the Fourth Crusade: +20% Siege Ability
"Constantinople had never fallen to an outside force until the soldiers of the Fourth Crusade captured the city in 1204 using innovative siege methods from both land and sea. This was the defining moment of the Fourth Crusade. We can use the lessons learned from the capture of Constantinople to make our future sieges more efficient."

3. Mending the Schism: +2% Missionary strength
"Even though Constantinople was not the original target of the Fourth Crusade, and its capture the product of a desperate situation spurred on by Venetian and Byzantine treachery, we have made the most of our situation. Bringing the light of the True Faith to an empire of heretics was- and is- no easy task. However, having returned Constantinople to unity with Rome, our missionary efforts carry an additional amount of legitimacy. "

4. Greek Fire: +20% Galley combat bonus
"Our chemists have finally cracked the closely-guarded secret formula for a compound that the Byzantines developed that could burn even underwater. Even centuries after its invention, this compound can still be very useful for our galley flotillas. Placing Greek Fire hoses alongside cannons on our galleys will vastly increase their deadliness in battle at close range. Ships may grow in scale and firepower- but they will always burn."

5. Sail to the Sunrise: May Recruit Conquistadores and Explorers, +20% Colony Range
"Let our Western rivals sail over unknown oceans to distant continents to eke out small colonies in harsh lands. With ports on the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean and all its wealthy lands can call to us, and us alone. Let us heed that call to adventure!"

6. Tactical Manuals: +1 Leader Maneuver, +5% Discipline
" From its earliest days, the Byzantine Empire used the works of educated military scholars to promulgate effective strategies for its army. As the heirs of Byzantium, we can harness this tradition of military scholarship for a new era of gunpowder, turning out a professional modern army with excellent leaders."

7. Reformed Theme System: +10% Tax Modifier
"The Theme System was the Byzantine version of the Western Feudal System that the Latin Empire quickly adopted. Its governance has served the Empire well, but with the decline of feudalism, it is now getting in the way of our establishment of a more centralized government model. Curbing the power of the local landholders will allow the State more direct access to its territory, increasing its profitability."

Ambitions: +25% Manpower increase

The "Sail to the Sunrise" is such because the Expansion idea tree (which grants CB's in Asia) does not give Conquistadores and Explorers, and the Exploration tree (which does) gives CB's in the New World, which the Latin Empire is too far away from to influence.

Combining history with my experiences playing as this realm in CK2, and in the interests of providing a very unique set of NI's, I present for your consideration:

LOMBARDY

Traditions: +1 Leader Shock, +1 Merchant

1. The Iron Crown of Lombardy: +1 yearly Legitimacy
"From time immemorial, the Iron Crown has been used to crown the kings and queens of Lombard Italy. This mighty reminder of our history and traditions can be re-emphasized to strengthen our rule. Whoever wears the Iron Crown rules Italy."

2. Ducal Power Broken: +5% Tax Modifier, +10% Loyalty of Nobility Estate
"From the time that our people migrated into Italy, our dukes have remained a constant thorn in the side of our kings. They have attempted to control the royal succession for centuries. But now, the tables have at last turned. As royal cannons destroy the once-vaunted ducal castles, so too have the once-powerful dukes been reduced to subservience to the royalty at long last."

3. Lombard Tactics: +20% Infantry Combat Ability
"The men of Lombardy have been some of the finest warriors that Europe has ever seen. Centuries ago, we faced the Byzantines at the height of their power and defeated them. As our army developed, we have united our fighting spirit with the discipline of Rome's legions. However, in this new age of pike and shot, new military methods are called for. By channeling Lombard militarism into new doctrines, we can ensure that our footmen are the terror of Europe once again."

4. Papal Cooperation: +1 Papal Influence, +10% Loyalty of Clergy Estate
"In the past, Lombardy has been in competition with the Papacy for power in the Italian Peninsula, yet we have also served as its shield from other powers. The rise of Protestantism has shaken Christendom. Now, new enemies beyond the Alps turn their eyes to the Papacy. We must do what we can to support the Holy See."

5. Roman Infrastructure: -10% Development Cost
"The Lombards arrived in Italy when the ruins of Rome were freshly toppled. Our adopted homeland is strewn with the remains of a world-conquering empire. With the world taking a renewed interest in all things classical, we can make use of the architectural principles of the finest remaining Roman buildings and roads in Italy to improve our own infrastructural projects."

6. Pompeian Counter-Piracy: -33% Enemy Privateering Effectiveness, +10% Trade Steering
"The dreaded Corsair pirates from Barbary have been a constant plague of the long Italian coastline, launching terrible raids on villages and plundering our shipping. We must deal with them once and for all. Drawing further lessons from antiquity, we can use the sea patrol system developed by the great Roman general Pompey to effectively combat the Corsairs. With our sea lanes clear, merchants will be more eager to trade at our ports."

7. Industrial Guilds: +5% Goods Produced Modifier, +10% Loyalty of Burghers Estate
"The Guild System is a cornerstone of production in Italy. However, with the concept of mass production being introduced, we must make sure that the guilds adapt to the system while adopting some of its methods. We will see a modest increase in our production, while at the same time earning the gratitude of the powerful Italian merchants for safeguarding their privileges."

Ambitions: -20% Culture Conversion cost

Great Moravia (culture union for West Slavic)

Traditions:
+1 Diplomatic relations (because Great Moravia had good relations with West, East and North)
+1 Attrition for enemies (legacy survival aggression Germans and Magyars)

1. Consolidation Župans and Voivods titles: +10% manpower; +5% tax
Existence of two independent offices managing provinces lead to numerous conflicts of administrative, decision-making chain elongation delayed work civil-military things etc. Consolidation this major offices should improve the state.

2. Mojmir Claim: +1 prestige
Our monarchy has ancient roots Mojmir. Use of this heritage in literature and art will bring respectability us in world.

3. New Rite Old Church Slavonic: +10% church power; +0,5 PI; +0,5 own tolerance
Throughout the Middle Ages our own rite was negated by the Germans. Fidelity to the teachings of Cyril and Methodius strengthened us religiously. Now, when the Reformation developed wings, we can better adapt to new Europa.

4. Power of minerals: +5 discipline
We are in possession of the mines of Silesia, Bohemia etc. Thanks for intelligent utilizing them to arms industry, our army should be able to massacre any enemies.

5. Southern mercenaries: -25% mercenary maintenance
South Slavs are very good mercenaries. Using panslavic sentiments we can get cheaper mercenaries.

6. Anti-german legislation: +15% production
Offensive german bourgeoisie to East provides long-term benefits only for Germans . In the future, it can give the Germans claim to conquer our lands. Through the anti-german mercantilism we strengthen economy.

7. Slavic enlightenment: -10% technology cost
We have a powerful scientific centers in Prague and Krakow. With a large and wise scholars are champions of enlightenment in the Slavic World.

Ambitions:-5 years of separatism

Just a heads-up as the CK2 converter diary is now out.
I am very happy for the suggestions I got in this thread but due to many other priorities with the converter this time around none of them have been implemented in this update.
I do aim to make them reality in the future though as we will keep supporting the converter. :)

I've gone ahead and added these NI sets to the NI Suggestion Compilation thread in case this thread gets lost in the suggestion forums. Also, I do believe that Lombardy only has one tradition.

So we are waiting for the next update.

Thank you so much! It's very exciting to know that. Also, like Grand Historian said, Lombardy has only one tradition idea. Therefore, I'd like to add +1 Merchant to it (since they own most of the Italian merchant cities).

Gardariki (norse or nordic Rus)

Traditions:
+15% Infantry combat ability (military legacy of Vikings)
+1 max promoted cultures (slavic-nordin brotherhood)

1. Religious ignorance: +33% religious unity; -2 tolerance true faith
Who cares if I am subjected to Pagan, Christian, Jew or Muslim? When the whole world overwhelmed by the fire of fanaticism, we aren't interested in anything in this sphere.

2. Expand river transport: +20% caravan power
East Slavic lands is a land of great rivers. In the Middle Ages, we used them to transport troops from north to south and quick raids on Byzantium. Those days are over.. But we should not give up the rivers, but change their destiny - from war to trade.

3. Urbanization steppes: −10% development cost
We dig hordes from the steppes Europe, but their lands are empty. We have to use our experience from building cities in East Slavic world to develop steppes.

4. Adoption Cossacks: +10% land fire damage
In the east, was born a new social structure - Cossacks. They effectively combine modern weapons with the old methods of fight. Adopting them to our system of war, our troops will have better firepower.

5. Germanic blood: +1 diplomatic reputation; +0,5 legitymacy
European countries increasingly mark their Germanic origins. For their non-Germanic peoples look as on savages. We are Germans lived in the most easterly front, true descendants of vikings-conquerors. In contrast to other peoples east nobody considers us as primitives.

6. Funding the Ushkuiniks (like a Novgorod)

7. War for domination of the sea: +25% naval force limit modifier
The future will belong to those who will have a strong control of the seas. The maritime industry is growing faster than the land, and no industry our economy will be nothing. We are preparing to War for domination of the sea!

Ambition: +1 leaders without upkeep
