On the terrain map York appears as a forested province, however, when selected no forests appear within the province window, only grassy plains.

Have you seen the plains-looking mountains in Turnu? (southern Pecheneg area in 1066) Or mountain-looking plains in Capua? (next to Rome)
I suppose that it was seen as more accurate to have York as plains after the map was drawn, but as drawing a new map would be big and costly thing to do (I suppose), they didn't want to do it for such a small cosmetic change.

As the map won't change should those erroneous province be changed to be the same as in the map or the same as they are in reality?

I think it's better being same as in reality, because it allows you guys to change other province terrains too, if it seems necessary, without backing up on something you have said before.
Also I believe the "Reality Nitpick" - faction tends to complain a lot more than the "Casual Wonderer" - faction.
