Further to Ironstone's comments.
Finally got my (strategy first) copy today:D , installed 1.05 NA straight away and wallah! ............................. "Wrong disk inserted"!:(

Ok...is there anyone out there that can help me with this?
If what Ironstone suspects is right, is there any plans on fixing it?

Cheers

Ozisoft is the publisher or EU2, on behalf on Strategy First.

I have absolutely no idea as to when they patch will be released. I do not understand why it takes so long (same language, SF got the discs, etc.).

I would recommend you to e-mail SF and Ozisoft to ask them when they intend to release the patch.

AH !

Thanks Viper. I emailed Strategy First Support as you suggested. 9.5 mins later (I kid you not !), they had replied. Now THATS service !
Seems Ironstone was spot on ! EUII in Australia is officially different to the version in North America despite the packaging to the contrary.

Hello,

The Australian version of the game uses a different copy protection scheme than the North American version and hence the patches are not compatible.

An Australian version patch 1.05 was up at the following site till last week:
http://gamenation.com.au/product/?action=view&id=823

It was removed due to a problem with the scenario editor. That problem has been corrected and the new correct version should be up on that site soon.

In the meantime, one person has set up a site where you can download the 1.05 version that was taken down, if you do not mind the non-functioning scenario editor. Here is the link:
http://gnforums.planet.net.au/Patches/

You will have to uninstall the game and reinstall it at this point before applying the Aussie patch.

I am sorry for all the inconvenience. Let me know if there are any further problems.

Regards,

Danny Kodais

Gotta love that ! :D ..... but wait there's more !

You gotta love this community!
A fello Aussie helped me out ;) and am now running 1.05 sweet as a whistle ! Sincerest thanks to that individual.

Thanks to all for this grin I can't seem to wipe off my face ! :D
Hail Paradox !

I have a feeling I know that fellow Aussie poster you're talking about :D

so, I'm glad it works for you :)

hopefully the official patch will be out soon.

viper..who ..where..I have no recollection of that

thanks

yup, will it make any difference now that it's running? What about if there are future patches?

Cheers

you won't be able to apply future patch, unless you followed the instructions to the letter ;) (made a backup of your EXE file?).
you'll probably have to uninstall the game and reinstall it to apply 1.06.

as for differences, both are identical. you still need the small patch for the scenario editor right now though.

are you the same Psycho V posting on Shogun: Total War? Your style seems the same ;)

yes :) ....except ..now that I think about it, I did leave the bit out about dancing the funky chicken naked at your local mall. Will this present a problem ?

yup, on it.

:) ..very observant of you there Viper!
Style!? ... surely you jest!
...so can the lack-there-of be regarded as a derivative of style and as such a form of style in it's own right?. Hmmm ... guess it's all relative.
(*#dangnamit*@!) I was trying my hardest to be devoid of any of the like!

So what name do you hail by over there?. I can't seem to remember seeing you under Viper37.

Cheers

Excuse me guys. but where's the Shogun forum please? I just HAVE to learn that game. :D

I've bought it TWICE now (Shogun, then the Warlord edition, after trading the original in a while back).

I get as far as the tutorials and my attention wanders....

It looks like a good game too. A stint reading a forum might help. Any clues where to find it please? :)

I am registered under the same nick, however, I don't think I have more than an handful of posts. I simply lurk over there from time to time.

About your style ;) : I remember when Paradox announced EU2, you kept ending your message with "HAIL PARADOX!" and I saw the same kind of posts on the total war boards :D

Viper37:
Hail friend ! :) yes .. I do tend to get rather carried away at times.
Ironstone:
I'm glad I could return the favour. If you have any further questions, I'd be more than happy to offer what assistance I can.

Cheers

Thanks guys!

Psycho V et.al.

Thanks guys for the thread on the patch problems with EUII and patch 1.05. Like Psycho V, I was real excited to load up EUII, went online to get the latest fix, and then huge disappointment when the "wrong disk" bug hit.

But then......

The EUII community to the rescue. Your lead to the gamenation site was spot-on. The AU patch is back on that link http://gamenation.com.au/product/?action=view&id=823 and it fixes the problem. So, its back to the Grand Campaign, no sleep and EU daydreams (awfully embarassing in long boring meetings to be found muttering about taking Venice once and for all.......)

Thxs again guys.

Hey guys. Another Aussie in trouble here. :)

I know, I know. I should install patch 1.05, but since I only got the game last week, I'll wait for 1.06 (it's a big patch, and long to download over modem  )

Anyways, I'm on Win XP, and when I run EU2 from the desktop icon, I get a black screen. I have to kill off the binkvideo program in taskmanager for the game to run. However, autorun has no such problem. Anyone seen this, and if it's fixed in the patches already?

rename your avi folder to avi_old and the game will by pass binkvideo. it is a known problem with XP but unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything to be done for now.
