1) When a vassal dies without an heir, his lands should revert to the liege.

2) When a Lord with no liege dies without an heir, it should find someone with a claim to inherit (or do the "country cousin" thing).

This would allow lines to actually die out and new lines to be granted. After all, under the current way the game works, if the Hapsburgs die out in 1084, a country cousin Hapsburg will take their place and keep the name going.

How many wars were fought over claims? Lots.

How many times did lines die out? Lots.

Can we please get this fixed?

This should be listed as an improvement suggestion in appropriate thread or in GD, not in bug reporting.

Then, as this likely (hopefully?) gets moved, I think it might be nice to have heirless peoples' titles return to liege. I guess it might open some new exploits (give land to unmarried random women...), but if players could not rely on country cousins, it would make things harder too.

How is that an exploit? You're putting a placeholder to run a county for you. Sort of like a local steward. Since the CK model only allows for 3 levels of nobility, it would make perfect sense to use some of those ladies once in a while. :D
