I'm seeing several factions declare war with Emirate of Jerusalem, but, nobody is moving toward it. They all are putting out their provincial armies and they are just wasting away precious gold and men from attrition and not doing anything. Sweden, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Republics and some other Duchies and Denmark are all in this stand still do nothing mode. It would appear that this requirement to fight or go through neutral contries is having an adverse effect on the AI armies. Why waste armies out in the open and gold if the AI isn't going to do anything with them?

I have noticed the same thing. There is a crusade against Jerusalem but the AI can't reach it because Jerusalem is held by the Fatimids but the Muslim provinces surrounding it are ruled by other Muslim rulers.

Ditto.

Maybe the Crusade events need to be revamped to include declaring war on all provinces in the area.

Oh good glad it's not just me. I was fixing to delete and reinstall my game and expansion. Funny thing is the Emirate is moving to attack them and the other muslim tribes they are at war with are moving to attack the catholics, but, the catholics and others are not moving, this is ruining the game.

I have a work around suggestion. Load up as the AI kings and declare war on all the Muslims in the area they need to cross, save, and then reload as who you were originally playing as.

Hopefully the AI will be smart enough to not ask for peace.

Same here. I started a 2nd game as Bavaria, this time switching to Bohemia as my liege. Somehow they got themselves in a war with a single Muslim county south of Jerusalem, and of course their army stood still as it couldn't reach them. I helped them along by declaring war on the territories between them and their target and hey presto they started moving (as Bohemia then joined in in these wars). Unfortunately when they landed they made a compromise peace and headed home again to continue the waiting game.

It's probably a separate issue, but I've also noticed the waiting game during wars between European armies. I know this happened before in CK, but it seems more noticeable now and the resultant loss in loyalty seems to be the cause of the collapse in the HRE.

Have fun

I've tried that already and it doesn't work. If the liege of the first territory is the same as ones further along then the attacker will generally make a peace with the liege and thus with everyone else.

Have fun

There is a quick-fix for this.

For your ongoing game, open your save-game file with Wordpad look for this line

Code:
crusade = { active = yes ended = no target = 774 }
    }

and then replace it with this

Code:
 crusade = { active = no ended = no target = 0 }
    }

Then save your file again as an .eug file

Then go to C:\Program Files\Paradox Entertainment\Crusader Kings\db\events.txt, open it with Wordpad and put a # in front of event = "db\events\Crusader_Events.txt", like below

Code:
#
#
# Crusader Kings Events Database
#
#

event = "db\events\Provincial_Structure_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Provincial_Conversion_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Global_Diseases_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Character_Health_Events.txt"
event = "db\events\Character_Development_Events.txt"

and then save the file.

This means of course that there won't be any crusade events at all, but the game will run just fine without them. The AI isn't that good in Crusading and as a human player you can always go 'Crusading' if you want to

That's a nice work around Veld for the Catholics vs the Muslims but it doesn't fix the local wars where there is neutral territory between the factions. Hell even Norway and Denmark are playing the stand still war between each other. I never noticed this ever happening in vanilla 1.05 CK. In DV you can't even get to the crusade provinces because of all the neutrals. Crusades need to declare war on all the provinces that surround the main one I think for this to work out like it should. What's funny is in reverse the Muslims or at least Jerusalem aren't having any issues with getting around the horn thru the sea to attack kingdoms like Denmark an Sweden, but, they ain't makin any headway to attack Germany or Poland cause they inland.

Yes that's because only some of the catholic nations are declaring war with enough of the surrounding provinces or those alone to get there by SEA, but, no one is able to move there by land anymore and that's the issue with many of them just standing still and not doing anything. For 20 years Sweden and its armies just stood there and didn't move at all from where they started, the other nations have obtained white peaces it would appear because their armies have disappeared. Sweden is just wasting away and doing nothing. Denmark broke off and went into a war with Norway and they are finally moving around. To fix Sweden I had to save and reload as king of Sweden and all the vassals and literally disband each and everyone of them. Finally they are moving again, but, still at war with Emirate of Jerusalem and a couple of others they can't get to.

There's going to have to be some exceptions made for Crusades to work in this version because of the neutrality the AI won't move and won't disband either. So the code needs to read if you can't get to them you shouldn't join in on the crusades. Which means there's going to have to be more war declaring of the outlying muslim factions and there can be no white peaces with them as long as the main objective is still available to be captured. That's the only way it will work from what I can see.

Well I started over and used the workaround and eliminated Crusades and everything is working fine again. Shame can't have Crusades though, some of the fun was being in a war and then having to take huge piety hits because I couldn't leave one war to be in the crusades. Hope they can fix this issue??

Pretty much sounds like it. The AI would have to plot their course as if they were able to reach the target and then DOW all heathens that lie in their path. If there's a huge Empire in the way that a country can not hope to take on then they should not participate in the crusades.

Alternatively, Crusade targets could be made to be always reachable, which of course would be immensely exploitable by human players.

Yeah I think maybe they should just go back to the old way as far as moving goes. They have enough restrictions and penalties now to slow expansion with bad boy points for everything and if you play Duke or Counts they have that thing where your King can royally (pun hahah) screw you of getting more provinces by just taking a white peace. I've had a king (sweden) white peace my war four times before I finally got the province. I was soooooo pissed cause that cost me 300 prestige right there not to mention the bad boy point I got for it as well.
