When I play EU4 with my normal speakers plugged in, using the USBAUDIO.sys driver, there will be no audio at all. However, when I use a different audio device like the speakers built into my monitor, and unplug the other speakers, the audio will work. For reference, the driver on that one is nvhda64v.sys. I've tried updating my drivers through windows, reinstalling the game, pretty much everything that has ever been suggested on this forum through my 2-3 hours of searching and troubleshooting.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of issue? I'd really like to use my PC speakers to play the game and not have to resort to unplugging them and switching to my monitor speakers every time I want to boot up the game.

Thank you!

Hopefully this was enough information as I've already isolated the exact problem and am just looking for workarounds, but if any logs are absolutely necessary I can provide those as well.

Has this always been the case, or used to work for you?

When this is happening, right click on the Speaker on your Windows task bar. Open Volume Mixer and look for the game - make sure it is not muted or set at a very low volume.

IF that doesn't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here. IF dxdiag.txt fails to attach here, rename it to dxdiag.log , or zip it up.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log .

I’m experiencing an audio issue in EU4 when using my normal speakers plugged in with the USBAUDIO.sys driver. There’s no audio at all. However, when I switch to my monitor’s built-in speakers (which use the nvhda64v.sys driver), the audio works fine.

I’ve tried updating drivers, reinstalling the game, and following various troubleshooting steps from the forum without success.

Has anyone dealt with a similar issue? I’d really like to use my PC speakers without having to unplug them and switch to my monitor speakers every time I launch the game.

Yoru report looks almost identical to the OP's here, yet you ask if anyone else has seen this issue ... ?!?

Did you read what I posted for them?
