Playing ironman game in India, formed the Deccan Empire. Horde takes the action to start its onslaught wars and declares war on me. No biggie, I knew this was coming eventually; I'm robust enough that I capture some of their provinces and I'm freeing my captured provinces behind the horde while picking off straggling armies. The provinces I captured provided a war score buffer so things don't get out of hand, war score is hovering around -20%-0% while I whittle his army down.

Suddenly the Khan dies and and his son succeeds, and it ERASES ALL OF MY OCCUPATION, which sends the war score immediately to -100%, and I'm immediately force surrendered, lose everything, and only option is to become an adventurer.

This is such garbage, the death of a ruler should at the very least create a bit of a transitional hiccup for the force whose leader died. It should in no way result in immediate victory in a major war. This just defies all logic and is totally game-breaking. And this is 100% vanilla game, no mods of any kind installed.

Really not enjoying this nomad expansion, the mechanics need some serious work. Does not seem like there was any kind of serious playtesting for this update. I'm not asking for easy mode; I certainly enjoy a good challenge. But an unexpected death of a wannabe khan somehow resulting in an immediate war victory is just so bonkers it defies explanation.

Sounds like a bug.
I think you're right. And I apologize for being so salty about it my initial post, was just really frustrated because I felt like I had a good plan for the horde.

I was able to recreate the issue and posted a bug report with a save file and instructions on how to recreate the issue with console commands:
