With the newly announced expansion and Enhanced Edition, are there any plans on releasing a non-Steam version of SotS2? And if so, can us poor souls who bought it on GG have access to it automatically?

Really, I should have checked the fine print, but I kind of bought this on a whim, and didn't stop to think this might be a Steam-only title seeing it is published by PI. Needless to say, not a fan of Steam. Anyway, I don't mean to start a Steam flame war, just looking for an answer to above question...

Thanks!

No.

Kerberos have nothing but praise for Steam and this past year would not nearly have been as successful without steam (especially considering how many patches they put out as well as they now have direct control on when and where they can put out updates etc directly and no longer have to wait for Steam staff to do so. Also since gamespy is apparently collasping they are also updating their multiplayer flatform to utilize Steam as well, so will be even more closely aligned with Steam.

Sorry, however there is some good news, you can use Steam for the updates etc only (as long as you don't play multiplayer) and play SoTS2 in offline mode from steam and not have it running on your system. If however you want to use the multiplayer side of the game, you'll need to have Steam running in background, but it's not required to play it solo.
