HoI Minimizing itself

I got this problem the first time this morning. When I start the game it goes straight to the main menu (I've renamed the avi dir to get around the screen resolution crash), when it gets to the main menu it miniizes itself. I've tried to maximize it but that doesn't work, it just minimizes itself again.
I tried to rename the avi dir back to it's old name, but it still minimizes itself. I can maximize it thou but the gfx in the main menu looks very strange indeed when I do.

Is this a known bug?
 
What other programs are you running? HOI (like many other games) will minimise if you've got something flashing on the Start Bar (like an incoming ICQ message, status indicators etc).
 
Also make sure you have all the latest dirvers, Video, Audio, Operating system updates ...
 
If he reports back and he is not running any background programs this should be in Support anyway. In no way related to ingame bugs.
 
Doesn't matter what I run, it still minimizes. I've got nothing flashing on the Task Bar. The only thing that helps is a rebbot, then it works, atleast until I need to restar t the game...

I have the latest drivers for everything....
 
But if you reboot, do you not also have to restart the game??
Or are you saying that this problem only occurs once you have exited the game then try and start it again.
 
I got that problem sometimes too, not frequently tho, just sporadic and I dont have any programms running either. I think it only occures if my comp is on for some time(12+hours) and I try to start HOI.
After reboot its working normaly. (WinXP problem maybe?)

Yup, thats exactly it. It never occurs the first time I try to start HoI after a reboot (it can be days after a reboot thou). Sometimes itt'll work th 2nd and 3rd times too and sometimes even longer. But this problem WILL occur sooner or later no matter what I do.

It sure sounds like a bug to me...
 
Here is what you should try. Rename your AVI folder to AVI_OLD
There is a good chance that will solve your problem.
Also what operating system are you using? I know there is an update for XP that may also address this issue.

If this does not work I also need to know what Resolution you are running the game in and what resolution you are running your desk top in.

I have already tried to rename the AVI folder it doesn't work. If it's name is AVI or AVI_OLD the game mnimizes itself.

I'm running my desktop in 1600x1200, but I have tried to lower it and the game minimizes itself no matter what desktop resolution i run.
I run the gamne in 1280x1024, I have tried changing it but no luck it still minimizes itself.


Yes I'm running XP, wich update are you talking about.. causet hat sounds lika that could help... hopefully ;)
 
"This update addresses the Game Stops Responding (Hangs) or Quits Unexpectedly When Introductory Video Clip Is Played issue in Windows XP".
The update is called 327979 under the Recommended Update list.

But you should DL all the updates.
