Resurrection

My archbishop of Mecklemburg dies and a new one is appointed, it is some cheesy country cousin, because the Papal Controller thing is broken. Anyways. His stats suck, 1 2 1 3, so I hit F12 die so that someone else comes up, name changes, but the last name remains the same and so do the stats.

All country cousins suck, but when they actually get resurrected, it can drive a man up the wall. I killed that sucker 7 times, and each time, he had a different first name, but each time he had the same stats.

What, exactly, is the bug you want to report? That country cousins generated as successors by the cheat console command have identical stats is hardly a bug.

Anything related to cheating or modding will not be considered.

Cheers,

Cat

PS: "modding" being a crash based on a modified scenario, or something like that, not especially a problem with a scripting command: that could be a valid bug

Wether I F12 them or assassinated them or get them killed in a battle. A country cousin, still should have random stats. So unless all country cousins are replicas of eachother, it looks like a bug.

Country cousin = Male (as of 1.04), with half the effective stats of his predecessor as base (like bastards) and random level 1 education. Sooner or later the cycle of being replaced by country cousins reaches the 1/1/1/1 level, where it practically stays the same. Random country cousin is same culture as predecessor (so it uses same first name pool) and same dynasty (so last name is same).

So it's completely WAD feature, which seems buglike to you when taken to the extreme of as lousy as possible country cousin being replaced by a new country cousin.

Again. A bug. If your character has 0 0 0 0, then there needs to be a random replacement. You can't keep getting mentally handicaped people, replacing weak rulers. It is illogical. And I am not making a derogatory remark here, but someone who has 0 0 0 0 in all their stats represents just that.

Why should the country cousin thing be changed? It is mainly a backup-tool to solve the problem of liege-less rulers finding an untimely death before succession is guaranteed. For your bishop-problem the solution is quite simple and rather obvious: revoke his title and install a new, more competent one. That is how a feudal lord would handle this if there is no appropriate successor in sight.

country cousin generator is not intended to be a cheat by repetitively killing them until you get one with good stats which suits you.

To get courtiers with good stats you should cleverly use conquest and marriage, good management of your court, and rely on good events.

This is not a bug, and will not be changed.

Fine, I agree this is not a bug.

So, let's have you fix the fact that the Pope does not replace bishops with his male courtiers.

And then we can fix the fact that taking away an Archbishop title costs piety, but giving it does not give you any.

And let's fix the fact that the Pope keeps taking male courtiers from rulers, instead of his own personal pool. And when those rulers run out of courtiers, we all get the shaft with country cousins, who keep getting worse with each generation.

Fix those bugs and this will cease to be a bug. :)

The issue is, that "currently" a Papal controller can not replace all the bishops who die. And every generation, when an archbishop dies, he is replaced by either a papal controller courtier or an incompetant country cousin who only gets 1/2 of the stats of the previous bishop. Eventually, all of the vassals of the Archbishops will rebel, because a country cousin with 1 in diplomacy can't hold on to his vassals. So, while the courtry cousin is not a bug, the slippery slope begins here.

Well, I agree that there should be some piece of code to make sure Pope always has ecclestically educated male courtiers. I tried to make an event for that purpose, but I think it would work far better if the game would insert ecclestically educated males into pope's court whenever there ain't one as a game feature, instead of event.

Actually this same feature could happen to all ecclestical goverment countries. I think every bishopric in Middle Ages had some lesser clerics hoping to get chosen as bishop if the current bishop dies. This would also solve the problem with orthodox bishops, who always have to rely on their courtiers in inheritance, which can at worst lead to ever repeating chain of country cousins.

I don't disagree with those papal/papal controller bugs, but the country cousin is not one :D
