Not Another Beta AAR

In the beginning Johan created the engine. But the engine was without form and content and darkness was upon the face of the game. And the Mouse of Johan moved upon the engine. And Johan said, "let there be graphics". And there were graphics. And Johan saw the graphics, that they were good. And Johan said, "let there be game mechanics". And there were game mechanics. Johan saw the game mechanics, that they were complex. And Johan said, "let there be events". And there were events. And Johan saw the events, that they brought flavour to the game. Then Johan rested. Then Johan saw the emptiness of the engine. And Johan said, "let there be countries". And there were countries. And Johan saw the countries, that they would bring a meaning for engines existance. Then Johan said, "let there be characters". And there were characters. Johan saw the characters, that they were a neat addition to the game. Thus, Universalis was born. But Johan saw that the countries, the characters, needed guidance. And so Johan created the Betas who would look after his engine. These Betas would be made in his image, given consciousness, ability to love, to take care. And these Betas would be given dominion over countries, over characters. And so, the Betas were born. In the early days of Betas' existance, everything was going well. Betas' prospered, the Universalis was improving day by day and Johan was satisfied with his creations. Peace and happiness reigned. But the things were about to change. For good. For one Beta was greedy, was evil. He called himself "King" and declared his dominance over the Universalis. King made countries fight each other, King made characters assassinate each other, the very Universalis was plunged into an endless, violent rage. Over and over again, the men of Rome and Carthage, of Macedonia and Sparta, charged against each other at King's command. Thousands of billions of men were killed because of King's bloodlust. King twisted the very fabric of time in order to return to Punic Wars, the Pyrrhic Wars, the Wars of Diadochi, over and over again to create more sorrow and misery to satisfy his bloodlust. Other Betas were corrupted by King's influence and the Universalis was on the brink of destruction. Johan saw the evilness caused by the Betas and decided to destroy them. And so, on 15th of April 2008, Johan released the Universalis from the grasp of Betas. Only later did he realise the horrible mistake he had made. And by then, it already was too late. Universalis would be never again the same.
