This post is made every year to explain in detail the roadmap and any changes made to it as well as to firmly establish some relevant information for the community on progress across all our projects.
As always I highly recommend you join the Official Discord to keep up to date and catch any teasers.
I'm very proud of just how far the game has come and delighted to see so many fans still playing after so long. The last few years have been productive, but haphazardly so, thanks in large part to the worldwide pandemic and the somewhat surprising release of CK3. These past few years however have allowed things to settle down for us to get our affairs back in order and form a good routine to deliver on the long terms goals of the project.
Since I have assumed management of the project, we have yet to miss a major deadline, or fallen behind on a milestone. I have delivered on numerous promises made on planned features as well as performance and balance changes, and have built a network of contributors and dedicated Warhammer fans to help along the way. I am still confident that I can finish v2.0 of the CK2 version of the game by the end of 2024 (roughly 2 more years of development).
At which point it may just be the greatest Warhammer Fantasy game of all time, completely free thanks to Paradox (admittedly DLC is another story).
This post will have no new or relevant info to our CK3 projects, those will be covered next year for our Patreons and we will make our first official showing at next years ModCon.
If you missed this years ModCon, you can find a dedicated channel on our discord. I had a lot of fun in the modjam and was blown away by some of the reveals. We also welcomed members of the industrious Imperator modding community into our ranks to help breath some life into the sunset game.

I recently announced a Patreon Exlusive "Expanded Gameplay" Submod, you can find out more in the STATE OF THE GAME post.
Based on community feedback the #1 requested feature at the moment is for performance enhancements above all else. I have been aware for years of the performance issues and have dedicated major development resources to addressing it with much success, the game is now stable enough to host over 25 players at a time for hours (at speed two/three) and I can reach year 2250 in an observe game in record time compared to 3 years ago. I spent numerous days before release in the Validator and can confidently say this is our most stable and balanced release we have pushed so far in our decade long history! But its still far from perfect.

This year I have consumed the entire patch cycle with a major performance overhaul that will address several key weak points in the game engine and codebase. I have also been documenting every single event and decision completely. This work will continue next year. Before resuming the traditional milestones.
I will outline all the notable changes in a separate STATE OF THE GAME post. For now, I'll give a general overview of where things stand.
Realistically, progress is somewhere around 40% complete. I began by jumping from section to section of the code base as I liked to keep me working on new things and stop boredom from creeping in from working so long in a vacuum with little to no input. Thankfully, a wonderful group of SVN testers has grown as they slowly grew tired of waiting for a public release. To facilitate this for those having difficulties with the SVN setup I overhauled our GitHub for early access testers to stay up to date.
As the year passed I began to focus on player facing changes first, things such as Artifacts, Buildings, Retinues, Validation issues and Bugs, and so on. To facilitate a playable release, for now this will continue into the new year until all of it has been overhauled and documented. This should leave us somewhere close to 65% complete. Ill then use the next patch cycle to focus on events and decisions which should bring things very much close to complete. We can resume the normal milestone plan from there with a focus on only new mechanics since the groundwork for all factions will have been laid.
