I've had this happen everytime i play v1.06. Oil is close to the max (say 99,995) and it stays there for months, no problems. Then, all of the sudden I look at it and it's negative inthe tens of thousands. (i've even seen it at negative -153,000). I seem to remember something about the way computers store negative numbers that can cause this (if you overshoot a maximum stored ina mem location it becomes negative, but this was from my CS classes 10 year ago, so i likely have no clue whats happening.) Point is you lose ALL your oil, IC goes to practically 0 overnight, all the units are out of gas. Soon all the rubber is gone (if you play germany, you can only make it from oil), then all the coal is going fast too because you convert/trade it into oil. Soon your world domination ambitions are wrecked.
This is by far the biggest problem with v1.06, otherwise the patch is great. What gives?

i will say this first, so Vulture doesn't. Please read teh Sticky on forum rules. Do not use the word "bug" in your title. it is reserved for the 'fluffy' one!

I haven't seen this yet myself, and i have completed 3 SP games, 2 MP games, and several 'what-if' SP games.

Is is repeatable? do you have a save game? any mod's installed?

It have happend to me as well, i played 3 unfinished games (1,06 is a little bit to hard for me..) and it have happend in one of them. I reloded and it was came back. Was at my laptop so i dont have any save anylonger..

Any chance you captured a enemy capital around the time when it happened. If so its a known but that will most likely get fixed in the upcomming patch.

No mods and Yes. It has happened 3/3 times I played v1.06 w/ Germany. It didnt happen playing France or Romania, but I gave up those games early and oil was never maxed out either (i think). Have the last autosave and oldsave games al well as a save about 1 year before it happened (also some other saves before that.) Someone posted something about taking an enemy capital and losing the oil: this mght be well possible bacause i remember sending my units from the recently defeated France to the Russian border, so paris had fallen about the same time as this happened in one of the occurences. BTW it never happened with other maxed out resources.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Sorry about saying "bug" in the post title, especialy since I had read the rule...

Did you capture any capitals (London, Paris, Amsterdam) right before your oil supply went negative?

If so, there's some events that are acting kind of weird.

I ran into this as well. And yes, I'd just taken Paris when suddenly all of my PanzerGrenadiers were out of gas and about to be overrun by hordes of angry Frenchmen. I went from a positive 40k oil reserve to a -20k.

Any workarounds at this point?

Thanks...

This happened in a 1936 MP game...

Human France was sending coal and oil to UK from Cherbourg. In the moment the Germans cut Cherbourg off from Paris and the rest of France the UK inventory went from around 99k in both resrouces to 0. It was quite easily fixed by editing the save.

Hope this helps...

edit the save ... ;)

F

Funny you should mention that...

Actually, if anyone can give me an idea on where to find it in the save file, I'd be happy to. I spent some time with a sector editor looking for the correct hex string to change and couldn't find it. Is there any documentation on the save file around?

Thanks...

it´s a known bug and fixed in the revision.

It's a plain text file; you don't need a hex editor. :) (The .eug is the one you edit. The .cfg, which is not text, doesn't really have anything you ever need to edit.)

Yes, I had this problem too. I captured Le Mans in FEB 1943 and lost everything due to a sudden oil crisis. Very disturbing.
