So i got this from steam. Do I have to get the patch separately or is it included in the game? Is there any checksum?

In the tech support forum you can find the most recent beta patch which I highly recommend. You have to install it manually.
Steam always patches all games automatically, to the latest official patch.
To use the beta patch referred to, you'd need to copy your Steam installation to a new directory and unzip the beta patch over that copy.

The most recent beta patch is mandatory, I think. The official patch is not really stable. I think Paradox should make the beta patch official.
Sorry, but I really can't find it...^^ (I'm blind sometimes though... can't see things right in front of my nose)
I plan on acquiring this game, but can anyone tell me when's the patch coming up? I here announcements of one, but the old one's from back 2010, practically four years ago.

There is an unofficial patch in the techsupport forum. You might need to register your game before accessing it.
