Er, here is an odd sound problem I am hoping someone else has had and can help me with...

Bought EU 2, installed on a top end W2k machine. SFX would quit after playing once. (i.e. build an army sound {and any other sound} would stop playing after the very first event). Uninstalled, reinstalled. No joy. DL'd 1.04, problem solved. <shrugs>.

So far so good. So I install the game on an upper end W98 machine. Same problem with the sfx sound... "Ah HA!" says I, I know the fix. I put the patch on a floppy, put it in the nasty Win 98 machine, and presto-- Crap! It didn't work! uninstall reinstall, reinstall patch... no joy. Reinstall sound drivers, reinstall Direct x 8.. No joy. Music plays great, but after the first sounding of the drums or the horns or whatever, sfx is deader than a doornail.

Any suggestions, and any reason why the patch would solve this issue (and yet only on one machine not both?)?

Thanks all!

Tchau!

Doh! Never mind

Doh! Never mind, I didn't see there were multiple pages on this forum so I missed earlier comments of the same nature as mine on ths SFX issue. I will follow the suggestions from # 17 on the running list. <goes off mumbling> I HATE being away so long I forget how the forum works...

I should let you talk alone to yourself for such a questions :D Nobody ever reads the sticky :D

I also have the "one-time wonder sound" problem Rio mentioned (I am using ver. 1.05). I tried suggestion #17 from the running list, but all I got were tinny music and a LOT of static. The SFX, too. were full of static. The result was the same no matter what hardware acceleration setting used (except full, which gave great music and great SFX, once). Is there any fix to hear the SFX AND music clearly? Any help GREATLY appreciated. It would be nice to hear both...

System specs: P4(1600), 256Mb, Creative Geforce2, Creative Audigy Platinum, 5.1 speaker set up, Win 98SE (ALL drivers are the latest versions)

Again, any ideas anyone???

I have an Audigy sound card and it's working fine with trick #17.

I'll see if I can find something else.
