Er, here is an odd sound problem I am hoping someone else has had and can help me with...
Bought EU 2, installed on a top end W2k machine. SFX would quit after playing once. (i.e. build an army sound {and any other sound} would stop playing after the very first event). Uninstalled, reinstalled. No joy. DL'd 1.04, problem solved. <shrugs>.
So far so good. So I install the game on an upper end W98 machine. Same problem with the sfx sound... "Ah HA!" says I, I know the fix. I put the patch on a floppy, put it in the nasty Win 98 machine, and presto-- Crap! It didn't work! uninstall reinstall, reinstall patch... no joy. Reinstall sound drivers, reinstall Direct x 8.. No joy. Music plays great, but after the first sounding of the drums or the horns or whatever, sfx is deader than a doornail.
Any suggestions, and any reason why the patch would solve this issue (and yet only on one machine not both?)?
Thanks all!
Tchau!
