While reading the AOW4 forum today, a bright green “cookie” icon suddenly popped up on the lower left side of my tablet, opening a ‘manage your cookies’ mini-window. It only appears on Paradox’ website. I have logged out, deleted all caches, and logged back in. I cannot get rid of it, even after I gave in, made my cookie choices, and confirmed them.

The icon is obtrusive and blocks the items underneath. I find it obnoxious in the extreme. How do I get rid of it?

By the way, the icon has moved to sit at the corner of the box I am typing in right now. I do not need to manage cookies every second, so why is it still there? (Please tell me its appearance is an error on Paradox’ part, and that you’re getting rid of it ASAP.)

Edit: it’s there even after I logged out, cleared my caches, and returned without logging in. I hate hate hate it! If the intent is to reduce forum traffic, I believe it will succeed admirably, at least with me.

If the intent was to make us aware PDX is tracking all behavior on the site, and to keep reminding us every second, this is certainly a success!

Icon is obnoxious and blocks limited visual space on phones. Please remove it asap.

In case you are using uBlock Origin, add this line:

I came to report the same behavior in Chrome for Desktop. This giant green cookie icon in the lower left that seems to have no way to disable. Please give us an option to turn it off.

uBlock is the key. That's how I blocked the old cookie icon too. For some reason Paradox believes they are required by law to always show an annoying cookie button, even though this is not the case for any other site on the Internet anywhere.

Well, the uBlock thing does work to remove an obnoxious widget that shouldn't be there in the first place.

Perhaps this is not the intention, but it certainly gives one the impression that either the desired behavior is to change cookie settings constantly, or the widget is there to make it easy to accidentally turn on all the data harvesting cookies that allow our data to be sold to shady people, especially on phones where it takes up even more of our limited screen space.

For those using AdblockPlus rather than uBlock Origin to filter out content, the syntax is the same.

AdBlock Plus > Settings > Advanced > Add Filter

Then copy paste the line as your new filter.

This is absurd. Not only do I have this bright green icon in what is otherwise a dark forum, but it obnoxiously slides into view every time a new page is loaded. I suspect this is unintentional, but the lack of response is disappointing. 10 days since last post.
