Hello all. I am looking for Online Domination. I am anxious to start my 1st online game with EU Rome. I am on Central Standard Time. I would prefer Rome but I am flexible. And it would be really awesome if I could get a group together to meet on a regular basis to complete whatever campaign we start. We can team up, square off or just start a game and see what happens. So if you thirst for thrashings, crave conquest or demand Domination then send me an email at sheltoniousmaximus@yahoo.com I will await your challenge.

This is a shameless bump for online glory. Still looking to start a campaign with more than one person. Dare you challenge me?

Hello Sheltonius,

As you may have noticed, the EU:R MP community is pretty dormant at the moment. I think you'll have better luck starting up or joining a campaign after 1.3 is released though. Until then, I'm afraid you'll have to settle for dominating the AI ;).

Since I have yet to play a multiplayer game I am not sure why that is. People have been able to play multiplayer campaigns right? I was assuming this feature was dormant cause it seems like only 10 people bought the game, myself included. I actually went as far as to reserve a copy of this game at my local gamestop. Which was funny cause I think I was the only person to buy a copy from that store at all. There wasn't exactly a line of people waiting for its release. And whenever I go to the metaserver I am always alone. Playing against the AI is fun at first, but after you get a firm grasp of the game the AI becomes terribly predictable. And its that unpredictability and incorporation of politics that makes a game with human opponents that much more interesting. If only there were more people interested in online play.

Well, you did the right thing by trying to set up a campaign in this forum first. As with all Paradox games, hanging out in the metaserver waiting for enough people to randomly show up just isn't going to happen :).

And yes, there have been 2 international MP campaigns so far. One went quite far before suffering an unfortunate demise while the other - which I had the pleasure of participating in - made it to the end. Generally speaking though, it's only a very small percentage of Paradox gamers who like to participate in long-term MP campaigns, and EU:R is further handicapped by still being a comparative work-in-progress and thusly overshadowed by the more popular titles (EU3, HoI2, etc.). Consequently there's not much enthusiasm for this game, but if patch 1.3 turns out to be good enough to solve many of the issues people are complaining about it's almost certain that we'll see a revival in the MP community.

Well, I'm hoping that'll be the case, anyway :D It really is too bad more people who bought this game didn't bother with MP. That's where the game in its current state really shines.

Patches? We dont need no stinkin patches!

Well I believe you can call me impatient. Regardless of when the patch comes out I'm ready to start an online game sooner rahter than later. You guys got my email, if you want to get a game going then send e an email. I am on Central Standard Time and I am flexible since I have quite a bit of free time.

Well I am on Central Standard Time and I'm ready to get a game going. Everyone who is interested just shoot me an email at the address listed on my first post up top. We will see when everyone is available and work out a time that can accomodate everyone.

SO the patch is out, lets hook up for some online domination. Don't worry Im a noob. Join with me and I'll save your country......for last! Muhahahah

Just to clarify I'm on GMT -5. Coordinating an international game seems to be very challenging. Just email me the times you are available. Hopefully we can get some people for a campaign.

I'm not yet interested in playing, but as I used to be GM, I have couple of advices. If you organise a game:
1) Find a name for it, so that the game is clearly distinguishable.
2) Establish set of rules: any house rules? Pause restrictions? Modifications? GC or later start? Available countries? Host if you don't use metaserver?
3) Provide another way of contact with people - email doesn't work. ICQ/MSN/Skype or something along the lines will allow you to crreate small chat just before the game to better coordinate things.
4) You won't be able to pull off entire game in one session. Ask not for timezone (which is irrelevant - I used to play 10pm-2/3am), but for possible gameplay time (like wed+fri 7-11pm GMT).

That's all I can think on top of my head. Good luck ;)

Sounds good. Thanks for the advice, I have yahoo mesenger and MSN messenger but i prefer yahoo. My biggest hurdle is getting people to send me emails consitently so as to find out time people are available. As for me I am extremely flexible. You guys just let me know what days you all are available. I want to name the campaign "Romanum Imperium". Shoot me some emails guys.
