I used to play eu4 a lot for many years >1500 hours with no problems. a few months ago I started playing again and my computer would reboot anywhere from 15 minutes to 3 hours in game.

I looked around a lot on what the issue can be so I have done a lot:

Updated everything I can in Windows Update

Updated Nvidia drivers for gtx 1070

Got a new high quality PSU

Got a new high quality CPU fan and replaced thermal paste & clean all the dust and case.

Got new RAM

I play a few other games for many hours, sometimes as much as 8 hours or more. (Path of exile on max graphics, last epoch, Albion online). It seems weird to me that it only happens when I play eu4. CPU and GPU temps are pretty low as well now that I've upgraded the fan. EU4 will even cause a reboot if I leave the game paused for a few hours.

Really not sure what to do now as I really want to play the new update. Anyone have experienced this before?

I just ran a stress test on CPU using OCCT and it instantly reboots my PC. Which makes sense since EU4 is a CPU intensive game. The temps are fine though, so maybe my CPU has reached it's lifespan limit and it's not related to EU4. Although if anyone knows anything I can do short of getting a new PC would be appreciated.

It could be related to the PSU. Error 41 is often related to insufficient PSU power, meaning your system draws more power than your PSU can handle and the PSU reboots the system.

I did upgrade my PSU to a high quality corsair one.

But yeah using OCCT I narrowed it down to CPU. I have resolved the problem by limiting cpu maximum to 95% in windows power management. Been playing for the last 2 days and no crashes.
I'm guessing years of temps being too high may have caused some permanent damage, even though temps are good now <60 when running eu4.
