This is not a crucial problem, but I ask more out of curiousity than anything. When I installed the 1.08 patch, the opening avi movie sequences appear "off center" For example what should appear against the left side of the screen, appears close to the right with the remainder of the image wrapped to the left. Now interestingly enough, I uninstalled EU2 completely and installed the original version from the CD and the opening sequence works like it always did - just fine. I then applied the 1.08 patch and it reverts back to the wrapped image problem. In all cases, once the game menu appears, everything is ok, which is why this is not a critical problem.

Something has to be munged in the new patch (1.08), at least on my system because this problem did not show up with the prior patches.

Windows XP running in 1024x768 mode, DirectX 9.0b nvidia Geoforce 2 MX400.

Just do like everyone else and rename your AVI folder to AVI_back. :)

Resolved

Fixed it! I played around with my monior settings - centering and left/right orientation and that fixed the problem. Still, it is strange why it worked with the unpatched version without any adjustments.

Initially, I discovered it also worked fine if I set Binkplay.exe (in "avi" folder) to run in Win 98 compatible mode with 640x480 resolution. Then I went back and adjusted monitor settings and undid the Win 98 compatibility and it still worked.

Most people prefer to skip them, but What happened I bet is that reinstalling reset your config settings and you were playing in a different resolution than before.

Castellon--are you implying there is a way of eliminating the annoying film at the beginning of the game, simply by renaming a folder from avi to avi_back? Why was I not informed?

(Pause)

Oh, that'll be because I didn't ask... All the same, is it true?
