Operation Barbarossa Fails Event?!?!

hi everyone, a germany game. had an early barbarossa beginning in spring of 1940.

it is now early sept 1940 and i was knocking on leningrads door, making pushes slowly everywhere else but had lots of new divs coming out like mad.....

and then...... Operation Barbarossa Fails event fires! dissent fires up and my german forces are weak as hell.

Soviets start attacking and Im losing 5000 men to their 200-400. they are attacking my dug in, better trained and led lines with 10-15 divs against my 10-15 divs and battles are only taking an hour or so.

What the hell is going on? I have no idea....please help asap

It's a terrible event put in to try and better simulate the historical outcome of operation Baberossa. The result is that unless you push through Russia with phenominal speed, the event will fire and cause your troops to have very low moral. There's lots of other threads debating whether or not the event should be there (if you haven't already guessed, I'm against it )

Edit the event out...I did. No longer a problem for me.

I mean, if we are going to mimick history step for step, let's also throw in a German surrender event in May 1945 regardless of how well Germany is doing. I mean, afterall, that's how it historically happpened. (Maybe we can take away the point of re-writing history in our games altogether and just automate everything to mimic history)!

You should not have attacked in 1940. In all games I have played so far Leningrad, Stalingrad and Moscow were in german hands within 8 weeks in summer 41.

I think I will not start another game before a patch is released that adresses this problem. I do not want to discuss historical accuracy. I just want a fair chance for the USSR without the help of an event that cripples Germany.

I am also hoping for a solution to the old hoi2 problem concerning US entry. While the AI is not keen to enter the war at all a payer will be in the war against the axis by September 39.

you would be very lame to join the war as usa in september 39... let alone you wont have a hawkish government or stand alone army so ur upgrades will always be crap and ur production will be slow... as im assuming you did ur production sliders only towards interventionist.

This event should be broken up into smaller events that simulate the logistical nightmare created by German overextention rather than a big unrealistic "Barbarossa Fails" event.

They could be a series of small morale hits for taking provinces deep in the USSR. These morale penalties could be reduced if Stalingrad, Leningrad, and/or Moscow are taken.
