OPM: A Europa Universalis Podcast - Recorded in front of a live audience (kind of)

Greetings all!

It's with great pleasure that we introduce to you our new podcast initiative. We've decided to name this podcast OPM, because why not? We will release one episode every two weeks on a regular schedule. However! We will be recording this over Discord where anyone who wants can join in and listen to it live, and interact with the host and their guest through the chat.

The recorded episodes will be released on a regular schedule on YouTube and other podcast platforms (which ones to be confirmed at a later time). But the recordings will be running on an extremely flexible schedule for us to be able to accommodate the guests for each episode. This means that we will be announcing a recording on our channels as soon as we have set a time. This can be a days, or just hours before the recording takes place. So keep on the lookout if you wish to partake!

The host(s) for this show will be Ryagi, vvasi or myself: BjornB. And the guests will vary and be announced closer to recording. We can however confirm that the first guest will be Will "BigBoss" Samelis, Content Designer at Paradox Tinto. But before you get too excited: we will not be talking about Caesar at all despite it being a project under Tinto.

I would like to request that you please make OPM available as an actual podcast, in MP3 format, not just a stream. If you only put it on streaming platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, people can only listen to if they have a mobile phone or other similar device, which means you are locked in to their platforms. Also, they insert adverts (potentially for rival games!). The easiest way to provide MP3s might be just to attach them to the forum announcements! If you can't do that, then Audioboom makes it very easy to download an MP3, and it's also possible on Acast if you know how, so please use one of those platforms.

I enjoy listening to podcasts on the go, but it's cheaper, safer, and more convenient to use an MP3 player. When I cross a busy road, or there's an announcement on the bus, or the traffic noise is too loud, I can pause and rewind using physical buttons, while keeping my eyes up and my second most expensive possession out of thieves' sight.

Yeah, the idea is to put it out in as many places as possible. We have the live segment only to give people an opportunity to be a part of it in some way - and to contribute to the discussion. As we just did the "pilot" we are still finding out how we best do things with the limited resources we have for this project. But we'll learn as we go along! Now we're working on editing and mixing what was recorded, and then we'll release it as a regular podcast. For now, only YouTube is a confirmed channel for this, but we'll look into other platforms as well. Unless we figure it out soon, we might be able to simply upload an mp3 on here so you can listen at your own leisure.
