For some of the content, it's important we decide beforehand what options we want, as it affects which file we put new content into. Of course, more options mean more flexibility for the player, but more work for us. Here are some options I'd be in favour of:

AI cheat events. Default: ON
IMO the AI needs a few of these, but some people will prefer to play without them.

Masochism events. Default: OFF
This is mostly for hardcore SP players who want the game to be made extra-hard.

Europe rules the world. Default: OFF
Toggling this one to 'on' wouldn't put the ROTW back as it was in vanilla, as that would be too much effort to set up. Instead, it would deprive ROTW countries of events and leaders, give them a default (non-colonising) AI, and reduce their tech-groups, so that none of them could be described as 'powers' any more. We might also remove some ROTW countries under this variant or reduce their size, such as the Maya or any Indonesian countries we introduce. This is for people who like the ROTW to be a big European colonial playpen.

Generous cultures. Default: OFF
Turning this one on would activate either new events, or more generous versions of existing events, in order to give countries extra cultures or allow them to get cultures more easily. By and large it wouldn't actually change the province cultures, just national cultures. In some cases they'd get the culture from game start, eg the Hansa would get German in 1419 if we're being generous. This is for players who prefer to have lots and lots of right-culture provinces.

Generous cores. Default: OFF
Similar idea - some people like to have the option of having tons of cores.

Colonial free-for-all. Default: OFF
This would drastically increase the number of random conquistadors, explorers and bonus colonists and thus make the colonial world a lot more crowded. This might be nice for SP, where colonisation tends to turn into a player whitewash because the AI isn't on the ball.

Incompetant,

Good work again.

I can't see us getting around to this kind of programming for a long time, but I think it is important that we spell out these kinds of ideas now, as you have done.

Aberration is about options, options, options in a multiplayer-friendly environment that has a grounding in the possibilities of alternate history. These options help to build that character of this mod greatly.

I feel certain that the list will grow, as we investigate the RotW more and the creative minds we have here devise more and more themeatic possibilities.

You know what, I think that we need to stay focused to what we need to do which is get Europe done then maybe get the ROTW done before we go running off worrying about what should be optional and what will not. I think that most of the people working the project know that the basic improvements will be in the non edited version, but about anything else will.

Personally I think that Europe should be 1st and foremost in our minds, after that, if we want to include ROTW and reaction events to these events, then I am all for that.

All I am saying is baby steps..... PLEASE!!!

No, no. We are in the phase of 'discussion'. We are talking about things to include or not. The real job shall begin as soon as we (meaning Incompetent and Mat) discuss everything.
