Hi guys ;
I'm looking for exact Order of battle for especially US forces prior to Cobra and then after that when 3rd Army activated. I couldn't find coherent info about what units were under Patton's 3rd Army when it was activated and what added to at the later stages (like at the start of Falaise pocket ,for both 1st , 3rd and 9th US Armies) ... Thanks

as a side note : it would have been great if we had a thread for Order of Battles for different battles and operations throughout history

Hi guys ;
I'm looking for exact Order of battle for ..........

Have you checked here?
But you probably new that.
Everybody knows niehorster. ;)
I dont know if he has something on your specific topic.
But sometime you can extract the information by comparing two stages (like before and after) of his OOBs.

Thanks count ,
However I checked the site you sent and all i could find is a US (better say allies) OoB for operation Neptune , and even that only was showing units of higher command like armies not the smaller ones :p

showing units of higher command like armies not the smaller ones

the armies are clickable and open up to show the included sub-units.

Anything underlined black is clickable.

@Count Blue
Thank you ,Still would have been great if I could get more precise information
So why not make it? It isn't easy to go through primary sources to understand what units were where, particularly given the fluid situation in many conflicts.

more precise information

More precise than that?
I dont think you going to find more precise info than on the niehorster site.

The guy does this for decades and if he hasnt found a document that nails it down in more detail you might be out of luck finding it yourself.
You have noticed that you can click on all those symbols and they open up for the subunits.
Down to squad level sometime. Even the commanders of companies.
